interesting INTAKE idea, might actually work

a buddy of mine told me to do this...

when u do ur oscai or poormans as some call it u pull out tha elbow which inturn lets u by pass the resonater..
now u stuck a pipe into that and ran it to the bottom of the car
now say u get a cone intake and u somehow get it to support right behind the rad and leave ur stock airbox in, will this do anything

he did a similar setup on a " sunfire" and he said the gains were deffinatly there..

lemme know if this makes sense.

Exactly why it doesn't seem to work any differently.

I always had this idea about having a CAI with another pipw comming out near where the pop charger would be and having some kind of valve that will switch over from a CAI to the shorter pop charger. have a push rod of some sort running through the firewall which you can switch the valve at the right rpms.

I think I understand what he's getting at. You hook up a pipe to where the lower resonator meets the stock intake pipe. You then hook up a filter to that pipe. You could either run the filter down low in the engine compartment or tuck it in the driver side fender using vacumm hose. You would remove the stock filter panel from the airbox since you already have a filter.

There are two problems with this though. The first one is you'll have to cut off airflow from the stock intake inlet because it will be unfiltered air. Secondly is the new intake piping will be really long (close to 4' vs 2') and will most likely suffocate the motor making less power.

best yet

Have a small scoupe in the hood right above the MAF with a short pipe and k/n panel filter in the hood. (scoupe similar to the wrx)

What would be great if they could incorperate this scoupe into a carbonfiber hood. (better yet have a new intake manifold with the intake facing up for this mod)

I wish.
