2002 = 255 HP, 260 HP or 265 HP?
after doing some reading about the 2002 max i thought that automatics would have 255 HP and so would the 6 speeds. i went to a nissan dealer yesterday and the salesman told me the 6 speeds will have 260 HP when they come out, 5 more than the automatics. THEN i went to a different dealer today and the salesman told me that the 6 speeds with have 265 HP, 10 more than the automatics. i wouldnt be surprised if the dealers told me that just to make me more interested. does anyone know what the actual specs are for the 2002? until last night i was almost sure it was 255 HP but now i feel like i could have been mistaken.

hmmm...Why is it that the prelude has 195 hp as an auto but a stick has 200hp? I'm sure the salepeople were lying but maybe thats what they had in mine. 2k2 auto, 255hp. 2k2 6spd, 260hp.

The dealers are both dumbasses. One time a dealership told a guy the new max was gonna have 300HP at the wheels !!
All the new Max's,auto and stick, will have the exact same engine, with exactly 255HP.

A even better example of this is on the 3.5L VQ on the Pathfinder. There is a 5 HP increase on the 5spd but a loss of TQ.

Actually the controversy with Nissan's HP ratings was first started when the new Q45 wasn't as fast as advertised. Nissan decided to stand by it's 340hp claim for the Q, but decided to lower advertised hp of the Altima and Maxima by 5hp to avert any criticism from the mags.
