Motor cranks but got a prob...need help.
hey all
we got the trans up today and all electrical stuff hooked up. We cranked it initially to get the oil circulating. Only to discover oil is not circulating. I pulled the oil press sensor out and only a couple drops came out. We cranked it with it out and no oil came out...Is this the proper way to see if there is oil press? is there another way? thanks! man....we're REALLY discouraged...

I didnt think their was any way to prime it. When I put my oil cooler and oil gauges on I tried to let it crank for a while to move some oil around but got nothing. I just started it up and it took about 2 seconds for the oil pressure to come up.
You did use assembly lube right? So it should be ok for a few seconds of idling.
IMHO

I assume the oil pressure sensor you are using isn't the "dummy" one used by the factory, right?
At idle (600-700 RPMs) the pressure will only be at 10psi, so a few drops may be all you get.
Run it up to 3k, your pressure should be around (63-80).
There is a regulator valve on the oil pump, but its not adjustable. Lack of oil (or pressure) could be:
No oil, or too little oil
No pick-up tube (or misaligned)
Bad or slow pump
pump out of clearance
Thats about all there is. The only was to prime would be to hand crank the motor (since its crank driven).

at least i got something to go on now. MardisGrasMax's experince makes it a bit easier so hopefully thats the only thing and its not a bad pump or something...
