I have a question. I am trying to complete my exhaust system with an RT Cat, but i was told by RT that the 2.5" RT Cat for the 97 Max was not compatible with my 97 I30. Is this true? I have a 2.5" Cattman Y-Pipe with a Greddy SP Exhaust. Please shed some light!?! Thanks!

I have been told by many sources that the hanger mounts for the like years of max and I30's are different. I know that stillen doesn't sell certain exhausts for both. You have to fing the I30 application when it comes to exhaust further down the pipe from the cat.

 

The hangers and the whole exaust is identical. To prove this point, I have taken apart my whole exaust by hand and swaped it from my max to my I30. Like I said before, they are identical!

 

I haven't looked personally, I have a stock exhaust. But I do know from trying to order from stillen, that even their stillen exhaust wont fit an I30... why is that? They told me to look at the HKS muffler. They Y pipe and all of that are identical. Thats what the rep told me, and why I still don't have an exhaust. It maybe because the lip of the tip doesn't protrude far enough out to not catch pockets of carbon monoxide in the rear bumper... I really don't know, just what I've been told... by stillen, Apex, and HKS.

 

I wouldn;t go near a RT cat, after the horror stories, and th lose of performance from them, but thats just what i heard...just tring to get my post who..er my post-o-lot award...

 

I had a stillen exaust on my I30 and it fit fine, also if you look at there catalog it is the same part # and all. Likely the info you have recieved is by uneducated car buffs. I will see if I can dig up a picture for you. BTW it fit just as good as it did on my max, the only difference was it only stuck out 1 inch rather then 3".

hks makes exhaust for I30's?

 

yup...I think HKS does make an exhaust for the I30, but the muffler tip doesn't stick out past the bumper...it's a little bit shorter...that's why I got the Greddy...I can't wait to get it installed and listen to that rumble...

im having the hardest time finding exhaust for my car. I really want greddy but they dont make them for 98's...

he is getting excited over Maxima One Piece headlights when the I30 once piece head lights have been out for over a year..

and the day he realizes the engine and all the performance parts for his car is a Maxima (let me explain)

ok I thought I made the one piece thing clear. I HAVE FRIENDS WITH MAXIMAS WHO DO NOT PARTICIPATE ON THIS FORUM. I simply was excited that they could get one piece headlights and stop complaing about not having access to them. as for the exhaust problem, ive contacted the two companies who I am most interested in HKS and Greddy and have received responses from both saying that they didnt have applications for my make/model/year of car.

and its black019 not black013 and I am cool even if I am a little slow at times.

 

Ask them if they have applications for a 98 Maxima.

 

I wanted to get those one piece headlights for my I30...I just can't afford em right now...i wanna get the 1-piece headlights with an HID kit...i think it would look real nice...

And maybe one day...he'll be cool...

black019...you can go to the Greddy site and find the application for your Maxima. I found my application for my I30 there. As for the HKS...Just run a search for it on the org. I'm sure you will find plenty of info on it. The biggest complaint was that the tip of the muffler did not reach the bumper...
