Hey TurboMax95 and others with knowledgre of engine swaps (you too MardigrasMax).....
I've got a chance to get a used VQ for $400. Only 70k miles on it, out of a wrecked 96 GXE. Now my current motor has 120K plus miles to it and I'm getting the extra motor because I may shop around and get a blower in the near future. Nonetheless I intend on using the second motor only after my current motor quits (which doesn't seem like it will). Anyway are there any forseeable issues when swapping engines. I like to think that my swap would be a piece of cake when considering that my car is a 96 (SE) and the spare motor I'm buying is a 96(GXE).
Now I know you're running boost so that may be the cause of some of your problems, but aside from that if I were to keep my motor normally aspirated are there any real areas of trouble? Out of curiousity what would it cost to have an engine installed at a shop? (average cost if fine, and please make reference to any shops in the tri-state area (NJ, NY, CT)
PS: good luck with your swap, cant wait to see some dyno charts!!! (ooops get that thing running first)
