power steering boost question
i used the search function, surpirse , and found an old topic where several people were discussing the possibility of changing the ease of the steering wheel at approx. 80 mph. did anyone do this?? DBM suggested this...
Here's a half-baked idea. Install a bypass hose between the PS pump output hose and the return hose. Put a hand-operated valve in that bypass hose. With the valve closed you would have full boost. With the valve wide open you would have no boost. Experiment with various valve settings until you had just the amount of boost you like.
my question is why not just put a valve on the output side of the pump? i am looking at this and that seems to be an easier way. HOWEVER sometimes i don't see the whole picture. so that's why i am asking. maybe there is a reason for the bypass hose
2ND question i have the nissan service manual and it has a MAXIMUM pupm pressure. i can't find a MINIMUM pressure. if anybody finds it or know where to find it please let me know.
big thanks

I dont see why you would need a bypass hose either. That's not a bad idea. I guess a regular ball-type valve from home depot would work, as long as it was rated to handle the max pressure.
