When my max gets to 1/4 tank of gas or less the motor hesitates badly whenever I give the car more than half throttle. The motor cuts off and on like its recieving no fuel. As the fuel level decreases the problem gets worse. No check engine lights either. When the gas tank has more than 1/4 tank of gas it runs like a champ.

The best part is I took the car into the dealership for a tune-up and end up getting my max in worse operating condition!!! Of course the icing on the cake was having the wheel weights the dealership put on from balancing the wheels fly off after two days.

 

Perhaps your fuel guage is reporting the fuel level incorrectly. For me, when the gas light comes on, I have 2.5 to 3.0 gallons remaining.

Do a search...DBM posted info on testing the fuel sending unit. If the sending unit is good, then I would check the fuel filter and then lastly, the fuel pump.
