A weird question: How to paint the chromed hamburger logo permanently black?

I had the Nissan logo on my front grill painted black and liked the way it looked against the black grill (95/96 style). Unfortunately, since the logo is chromed, the black paint doesn't adhere very well and is already starting to flake off.

Anyone know where I can buy an all-black or at least non-chromed Nissan hamburger logo? Or any paint shop guys know how to paint on top of chrome so that it never flakes off?

Jim

you should try sanding the chrome finish off first to give the paint a rougher surface to adhere to

what about going to get it done in black chrome??

that's what i want to do with my rear nissan emblem.

but if you want, just sand it up and that should hold the paint better.

You could probably have a body shop paint it for less than $20, thats how I had the Nissan on my grill done.

Take it to a chrome shop and have it de-chromed; all they do is reverse the electrodes. It's really cheap to do since you are giving them chromium instead of buying it. I had a fender support/grab bar from a motorcycle de-chromed some years back. IIRC, it cost me $10.

or you could just re spreay it every 6 months and pay like twelve cents each time... it takes 1 squirt of spray paint... sheesh.
