Does the ECU control the alarm on the 4th Gen or

Does the ECU control the alarm on the 4th Gen or

is there a seperate alarm "brain" or alarm control unit?
I am having problems with my alarm not always activating when
it normally should and I am tring to figure out where to
start.

Yep, they're separate... it works together with the Body Control Module too.
