Just got TOASTED by an A8

Not much to tell but we were at a light and I took off and he kicked my butt good.

I pull up to him and told him I had an auto but if I had a 5 speed it would have been able to hang. He said he has raced 5 speed Maximas and they were in his a$$ but he could still beat one.

Has anyone ever lost to an A8?

It's fast but it looked like it would be slightly faster than a 5 speed.

Don't F with the european cars man hehe. I think the A8 comes with the option of a 2.7L twin turbo at 255 hp or a 4.2L V8 at like 300 hp. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. They are pretty damn heavy though. I bet 0-60 is in the 6.0-6.5 range for the V8.

Even though it's a big car with 4-wheel drive, the Audi A8 has......310hp. But the real killer is the S8 with..360hp. The A6 is the model with the 2.7 bi-turbo and but you can also get it with the 4.2 8 same as the A8.

Ya know, I knew the car had 300HP and I wanted to play anyway. If I saw the wheels that come with the S series cars, I would have chilled. Heck, I chilled when I couldn't catch the dude. At least he didn't degrade the Maxima.

Monster engines in the high end Audis. How much is an A8? I think you can buy a Max and an Acura TLS for the cost of the A8.

And its affordable, shat, I don't wanna preach but maxima's are the shiznit, an fizzuck those who sizzay anything otherwise, cause they aint never owned one. And even if thier car can beat me I'll still kick their aszz if they wanna start somethin.

Re: Just got TOASTED by an A8

Last night I saw one for the first time. It was a dark blue in color. I rolled up behind one at the lights and he raced a mid 90's Camero. He smoked him in the outside lane he was ahead for sure! I got ahead of him later on a couple of lights up when they were done and wow the lights look soooo wicked! Nice ride for sure! Imagine the S8 sweeeeeeeeeet!

PS Maybe it was Russ he beat?

You can't get them in a 6spd, they are auto only. The European models are the only ones with the 6spd.

A8's aren't that quick at all. There actual a click slower 0-60 then a 5spd max, but a click faster in the 1/4.

The car in my sig will be eating them for breakfast . Ohh I love it!{G-35}

The one I saw just had so much traction off the line. The Camero was a V8 as well and the A8 was ahead of him for sure.

yep your right about that one, but I would love to drive the 6-speed model, oh yea I found this on Audi's website thought it was pretty cool,
"

From its inception, the S8 was designed to be a new kind of luxury sedan. A sedan that was the antithesis of the overloaded premium sedans drowning in their own excesses. A sedan in which performance, sport and luxury triangulate and emerge as one.

With the S8, there's power: A 360 hp, 40-valve V8. Zero to 60 in just over six seconds. Agility: Legendary quattro® all-wheel drive and the technological marvel known as the all-aluminum Audi Space Frame (ASF®). And, Luxury: In wicked abundance. Presenting the 2001 Audi S8. The most uncommon luxury performance car the world has ever seen.
"

found some stats on it, it would eat us alive,,, 6.3 to 60, so we might hang in a 5-speed, 13.9 in the 1/4 mile DAMN!!!!!!

that 6.3 0-60mph and 13.9 1/4mi time don't really match up. Besides, htat 6.3 is tha factory #; i've read of 5.8 and 14.2 -- it'll run with an S2k. Funny because peopel on this BBS are whooping on S2ks.

Those times should match up if most of the A8's good power is up top. Those Euro's are usually "slow" until they get up to speed.

The car I lost too was fast.

As if the A8 wasn't fast enough already...

It'll be available here with VW's W12 engine soon. Europe already has it, and 418hp it is now the world's most powerful production sedan. It's very heavy though, and there wasn't much of a difference in acceleration to 60mph since CAR tested the A8L(long wheelbase) model.

If you want to see an S8on laughing gas, check out Ronin.

Oh yea Ronin has the phattest chase scenes (SP?) with that S8,, it's badass the was it cuts through the corners, in the first chase, when you see it gripping so hard from the quattro it hops, If you haven't seen the movie go get it, I got it somewhere for 6 bucks, at some movie place.
