Englishtown, battle of the imports....i ran a 14.4!!!!!

i had so much fun tonight. it was a very long day for me and the team i was rolling with. we got there around 12 noon. by the time elimination rounds came it was getting dark already! ok here's the meat of the story: i'm running C class, 6 cylinder or rotary naturally aspirated. my dial in time was 14.5 all night..my first round i run against a V6 honda accord. he dials in at 16.2. i beat him with a reaction time of .610 to his .692 and run a 14.51 to his 16.24 which was right on the dial in! second round i run against a red C35 AMG. i guess the guy was trying to play with me a little..he dialed in at 15.58. he redlighted with a 499 light! i got lucky. i ran my fastest time of 14.458 @94.03mph. we both broke out, but he redlighted. i must say, both these rounds were close. both of them were trying to outgun me from the reaction times. so far so good right? i was on a roll until i ran up against a I30 with a dial in time of 15.75. i redlighted! doh! the pressure of the 1st two rounds got me! ahh. i was upset because i desperately need money for correcting my suspension. but i had a chance to beat him. he ran 15.803 @87.96 on that run and a reaction time of only .625. maybe next time it will be better. all in all i think my skills are readily improving. i almost won money, but it was more about having fun. good "racing learning experience."

in addition: i was impressed with the mercedes AMG C35. the guy had a .499 light which meant that he almost had a "perfect light." on that run, my RT was .595. he broke out and ran a 14.457 @95.88mph to my 14.458 @94.03mph..it would have been even more interesting if the race was heads up! those AMG sedans pack some punch. go maxima power! 14.4s baby!

Where you with "east coast" (??). I remember seeing 2 or 3 4th gens running. What color was your car?

I didn't run my car but a few of my friends did. One had a white 96 civic dx with just I/E ran a 16.5. Pretty damn good for a car with 106hp

Jim 90..we were probably the last two remaining teams to leave the track. i saw the "east coast" team you were describing..i was wondering if he was an ORG member. but no, i was hanging out with "team flipspeed." those guys are supercool! our team leader (do you remember seeing a yellow 97 civic with erubuni kit running 13.5s-13.6s?) won the entire thing. he split the money with the dude in the final. at the carshow area, i saw the black max and a yellow max with skyline tails again. he has an SC auto max! nice work done to it. there was a dark red SE but i guess he lost in the 1st round. my car is a 97 black GXE 5speed. it looks very basic, but it works! madd max, i DO have a ypipe and cone filter. i ran with no passenger seats, barely any gas, tires set at 16.5psi..all my mods are listed below. plus i launch the car holding it at 1,500rpms shifting like a driver on a mission. there are no more secrets to running 14.4s!

Sebastian? His car is a different color at every event LOL (well, almost).

My buddy Arnel took first in Class D (6 cyl turbo/SC/NOS) with his 94 300ZX TT, black.

thank you CML! yes i ran class C normally aspirated 6 cyl or rotory engines. i was impressed with the red AMG C35 i ran against and beat. and yes, i think your buddy in the 300Z was lined up right behind me. very nice car. it was like my base model GXE, followed by a modded up 300z, supra, RX7, NSX..it was crazy! thank goodness they're in class D! haha.
got rice...yes, sebastian is a hella good driver. his car changes color very often! white, green, yellow you name it. he has a new engine swap also. he is running today (sunday) as well. he will be with his bodykit sponsor's tent.

there is no C35 AMG Mercedes. There was a C36 AMG, and a C43 AMG.

Just my two cents. I am trying to make myself feel better because I have a slow a s s car compared to a 14.4 all motor.

GREAT JOB MAN!!!

nealoc, my 60' time wasn't all that impressive. here's the rundown of my run:
Dial 14.5
RT .595
60' 2.242
330' 6.098
1/8 mi 9.322 @75.15mph
1000' 12.100
1/4 mi 14.458 @94.03mph
i think synki mentioned in a post that in bracket racing your reaction time after .499 (which is a redlight) is added onto your ET. so if you subtract correctly i might have run even quicker. Dirksmoothe, i think it was a C36 AMG i ran against. it was a 4 door model and certainly not a C43 or whatever. oh, thanks for the compliment! there's no secret to running sub 15's though. just go out and do it.

i'll have to experiment with higher rpm launches. i've only gotten a 2.1 60' time once. wow, 14.2 sounds very quick to me! and that "eastcoast" maxima that ran 14.3 also! i should have talked to the guy before i left last night. oh well.

I think his fastest time was 14.3, and that was with intake, exhaust, and ECU. 14.4 is the fastest I've seen for a 4th gen with just intake and exhaust.

Don Cooper did a 14.1 NA with his auto. As far as 14.4 being the fastes with only intake and exhuast... Brian V ran a 14.3... but I don't know if he's using a chip at all.

That's a really impressive time man. I looked at your timeslip vs mine, and I determined you are really ripping through the first 330'. That's where the biggest difference in our times is, and since you have mods you are making more power and expand the difference in our 330' a little more as the run goes on, but the first 330' you run is awesome. Do you lift off the throttle when you shift 1-2 or not? I haven't tried that ever but I've been considering it. Either your car is just making massive midrange power to punch through that first 330' feet or there is a significant difference in our techniques. Just curious.

Hehe. Last time I saw it the car was army green.

Did you guys see a silver 300ZX TT run 11.1-11.2 on Sunday? It's the GR Racing sponsored Z They kicked him off the track since he didn't have a rollcage in the car (needed for 11.99 and faster). hehe

Arnel (black 300ZX) took first on Sunday, too. He's the bracket racing king at Etown!!

that Z was insane. im more of a supra fanatic (not saying i don't like Z's) but those runs definitely open up the eyes a bit. maybe i will stick in the Nissan family with the next ride..

Congrats on the new time!

You keep pulling closer & closer to me on our times!

Wow, from your time slip, you would kill me. Your 330' is 6.0 vs how mine is a 6.1 but i guess i have a bit more pull top end.

Hey Phuong, wanna sponsor this auto? hehehe.

Just goes to show that the only thing that makes the 95 Maxes faster than than the 97-99s are the wheels. Good going, VQDriver!

i granny launch at 1,500rpms. i shift as quickly/smoothly as i can lifting off the throttle for a split second. basically make the engine sound like its attached to a sequential shifter kind of like richard burns in his WRX wrc rally car haha. well that's how i do it. does anyone in here not lift off? next time i might try higher rpm launches along with non-lift throttle shifts.
