ps > hp ????

ps > hp ????

Ive seen a few sites that rate engines in ps. what does this stand for? what do i * it by to get HP?

I've seen engine ratings in kW (kilowatts) but never "ps". Can you post a link to where you've seen this?

No, it's actually the other way around 1 bhp > 1 ps. ps stands for the German words "Pferde Staerke" which means Horse Power. The conversion formulas are as follows:

ps = bhp * 1.01387

bhp = ps * 0.98631

As you can see one ps is about 98.631 % of a one bhp. Slightly less.
