I'm considering buying a spare motor from a 96 GXE. The guy that is offering it for sale said his car was in a wreck and the motor had 70K on it. Is there anyhing I should be aware of? Is there any necessary paperwork involved when you buy an engine? How can I safeguard myself from buying a stolen motor? The motor isn't in the car anymore, but from pics is looks to be in good condition. Initially the owner wanted to put it in an 3rd gen but found out it wont fit so he's selling it. $400 is his asking price, and I'm just asking for any advice about buying a spare engine. My current engine has 120k miles on it and still runs great, but I want to keep the Max for at least another 3 years and I figured a spare motor would be a great asset in the bank (so to speak). Any and all suggestions are welcome.
