My Springs should be coming in shortly and I need to know if I can just go rent a spring compressor and install them myself or should I have someone put them in? Also I got H&R, someone talk to me about camber Plates. They go at the top of the strut tower right? and has a bolt to adjust them? need a little help.

Doing it yourself?

Plan on 4 hours of blood sweat and tears...

I've changed springs on Maximas about 6 times, its getting pretty routine. If you are not prone to hard work or haven't done it before, its best to pay someone 100 bucks to suffer for an hour or so.

You can rent spring compressors (manual ones) from Autozone or most car part places. You'll need a socket set, wrenches, and lots of muscle. Yes camber plates go on top and has a bolt to adjust them. Installs pretty easy.

Good luck

another question. when springs are installed, which part is up, the closer part of the spring or the part that has more distance? I called a place today, the lady told me $250 to put them in and said it'll take 3 hours. WTF, I think she don't know what she was talking about.

it costed $170, friend paid $135 by saying the rears were shocks vs. "struts" year before me sans an alignment.
no way i'm doing that, so many stuff can go wrong therefore i preferred to watch tv and pay a shop.
plus the guys in the shop said it was a pita to me 3 times.

Well, I did the coilovers, I didn't think it was that bad. Pep boys rents the compressor for free, you just gotta put the full price on a credit card and then it gets refunded when you bring it back. I think it's worth doing just to get a little closer to your car

I did it, and I thought it was really straightforward and relatively easy. Check out the Megamax site for instructions. The one thing I forgot that was dumb was to line up the upper strut mount (notch goes to the outside), but it only took 15 minutes to fix once I figured it out. Just make sure you have the right tools and a long breaker bar. I didn't even bleed once, but my legs and back were sore for a couple of days from using all of my strength to loosen some of those nuts. I'd do it again.

I wish i could find someone to do it for $100, the few places i called said $200-$400 and bout 4-6 hours and one place said ur gonna have to drop your car at like 8am and we'll see when it gets done, I was like wtf, no one i've ever talked to said it would take this long other than the hicks at these mechanic places. I mean is it really easy to change springs, b/c i don't think that i'm that mechanically inclined but would like to do it if i could...

Seriously, it's not a very complicated job. It just requires some time, patience, and brute force. Check out http://integra.vtec.net/geeser/megamax/springs.html and see what you think. It took me 4 hours and I was taking my time to make sure I didn't screw up. If I had to do it again, I bet I could do it in 2 1/2 hours.

Damn Chad I was hopeing U'ld read this post, I remember U telling me about the tie wrap method . Anyone here with H&R springs with the cambre plates? I need to know how to set the plates and also how the springs go in. also what do I mark B4 I take the struts out? I haven't looked at the car at all but I know the 3 on top 1 in the center on top, the ball joints, spindle arms gotta come off. shouldn't have to mess with the disk or the bigass center bolt on the Hub right?

Camber Plates? Is it really needed for lowering the Max? I thought if you drop it more then 2" then you need em. BTW any know which springs give the Maxima a BMW look, like how there is about half an inch between tires and wheelwell?
