Since the car is jacked up and you're already there, it's a good time to install the cat but it's not necessary since you could always do it at a later time.
If you need an RT cat, I've got several in stock ready to ship out.

RT cats also make a much greater difference if your car has a lot of miles on it and your stock cat is pretty clogged up. Won't make any noticeable difference to a new, or low miles car. I will only bother getting one if I can't sell my car next spring and I go for a y-pipe. It will get a cat also at that point.
