Do you have 2 sets of floor mats on the ground? If so that might be a problem, because I know that when I put my winter mats in, I need to take out the summer ones because there is not enough clearance room.
Also, flip the floor mat over and see if the little rubber tacks are still there. If the bottom is smooth, you might want to just get a new mat, because it is not sticking the the carpet below properly.

thats true, i have the same problem the OP describes, i just pull it back with my hands once a week or so (i have an auto)
i have 2 sets of floor mats and the bottom ones used to have this rubbery layer that slowly deteriorated and got ripped off, the top one is rubber

my mats ar enot oem maxima, they dont have the little hole, the top rubber mat just has this "edge" that i put over the little ***, but it easily slides off after like 2 days, its ok, doesnt bother me at all,
im not LAZy and use my hands to pull it back LOL

To the OP, I'd say if it bothers you that much, pic up a set of OEM mats
Courtesy has tan and black mats for $70 plus shipping I believe, and have the all seasons for $60. Someone on the .org was selling black OEMs for $40 bucks i think. Check the F/S thread....as it was posted less than a week ago.
Carpet is best for overall looks, but I can't put them on without destroying my driver's side. Bought all-season rubber mats, and they stay year round. Easy to clean, hard to tear holes into with "manual" feet.
Just ordered some oem black rubber nissan mats for my 01 from DAVE B. He hooked me up with a great price of $46 for the mats...Even he was suprised about the price because they are usually around $60 from nissan...CALL HIM........Great mats for the winter but I will probably leave them in year round since my carpet mats are starting to look worn....
swap meet, 4 bucks and under haha, but remember you get what you pay for....
^^not what i did but hey.^^
what I ended up doing is buying new matts it stays put most of the time, moves a little but not enough to interfere with the clutch, eventually will buy rubber, because like someone posted manual feet. so yea thanks for all the tips guys i got my problem solved

i dunno what year maximas you all are driving, but in my 97 GLE the floormats have hundreds of plastic spikes that dig into the floorboard carpeting. they are impossible to slide around with your feet. i didnt have that in my 93 SE tho.
velcro is a good idea but after removing and replacing and removing the mats again and again, where the velcro attaches to the floorboard carpeting might start to get loose. you would eventually pull the bottom velcro peice up with the threads from the carpet.
that post doesnt do **** on my car. i had a 3rd gen with that same feature and it also didnt do a damn thing. they shoulda made it magnetic
