You know, I noticed the same thing.

Even when I really listen for it, I don't seem to notice it anymore, or can't make out the particular sound. Shi# with the sound blasting out my damn exhaust, I actually can't hear much of anything anymore. All that exhaust work, and I only dropped .4 seconds of my quarter from 16.35 to 15.92. Lets see $300 y-pipe
$550 Cat Back
$150 RT Catalyst
$1000.oo total for .4 seconds

I guess that is alright, but yeah, can't notice the intake anymore.

my friend has a VW gti

kicks my *** all the time with his mods...

I wanna rattle his windows off.... someday...

what does it entail to put all those on ?

I would like to improve my exhaust...
mostly the sound...
My pop charger alone tends to sound like a Rat trying to SHlT out a dog.... unless I am under an overpass's echo chanber effect.

I want the performance, yes... and keep the sound barely legal.

The Cat Back was originally from stillen, but was so damn loud, I went to a two chamber muffler instead of a strait through! This made it a little quiter, but sitting at a light, I sound like I got a V8 now. More grumble at all rpms, but less loud overall. The high flow cat, I got on a group buy, they are normally about $200 for shipping and handling. Y-pipe from stillen, universal fit. If you get the y-pipe, I recommend the Cattman Performance Model, since it is quiter and is coated with Jet-Hot and is guarenteed to never rust. The Cattman has a better flex pipe sections also that does not hiss at high rpm like my Stillen one. Cattman's is $350 but I think it is worth the extra money, it also fits together better. The stillen required me to do some hacksawing to get it to fit together, pretty crappy since it cost so much. They made one of the pipes stick out too far from the tripple bracket, and it would not fit into the other part. This now comes to $550.00, but wait, go to Ptuning's web site and look up exhaust from them. They have a Pace Setters full Cat-back for $200.00 It is mendral bent, and fits on all the original hanging brackets. It has a 4" Chrome tip just like Stillens, but is made of mild steal and is coated with high temp paint, so should not rust much unless you bang it up to where the paint starts to chip off. But for $200.00 that price cannot be beat! I have gone to the trouble of getting the stainless Stillen, and that was $280 just for the b-pipe. You will notice that the diameter is just 2.25" and not 2.5" Well guess what, the Stillen product was told to me to be a 2.5" piece with mendral bends, but turned out to be a 2.25" pipe, so it is only better to the fact that it is stainless steal, and they do not make a 2.5" pipe for the cat-back. This one is mendral bent, and if you have a 97 to 99 it will eliminate the most restrictive part of your exhaust which is the 02 sensor pipe, plugging back directly to the catalyst. If you have an older 94 to 96, it comes with a plug for the new 02 sensor hole. The y-pipe is illegal to the fact that it eliminates the pre-cats, but that doesn't stop most people. I just emissioned my car last month, and since I fully warmed up the vehicle before the test, even without the precats, and with the new high flow cat, my car passed with an almost perfect test. And the smog boys will not say anything because they will still see one catalytic converter. The y-pipe has a little plate that is welded to it, stating that it is illegal for road use. Just use a dremmel and cut this off, if you get it. You will need 4 -3/8" X 1.5" bolts with 8 washers, and 4 lockwashers and 4 nuts. You will use all the rest of the original bolts and hardware on the car. It is not hard to unbolt and remove the original parts if you have a lift, or 4 good jack stands, and a bottle of Liquid Wrench. You also need a breaker bar, deep sockets metric, large creacent wrench, universal joint or two, 8" or longer extensions, and some metric wrenches.

Now just spray down all bolts that need to be removed with the Liquid Wrench, then wait about 10 minutes or so before starting to unbolt. All the new pieces will come with some new hardware, and new gaskets. You will need these no doubt. Of course the car is on the lift or as high up on the jackstands as you feel comfortable with. The catback is the easiest part to exchange, since it just unbolts then pull the muffler from its rubber hangers and that is it. The new Cat will bolt right onto the b-pipe, and of course the y-pipe to the Cat. The y-pipe is the hardest piece to dismantel, only due to the fact that you need a universal joint to reach the bolts, also needing a deep socket. It was really easy to unbolt the y-pipe for me, since I live in Vegas, and it is dry and warm all the time, so there was virtually no rust at all, and the bolts came off easy. Now the freaking 02 plugs were the hardest part to take off. I needed to use a screwdriver and hammer to get them off of the brackets that held them, and then a really freakin long screwdriver so that you can reach all the different spots that hold on the wire to protect it from heat. You gotta disconnect the 02 sensor wires and drop them down to the ground by removing all the plastic clips. I tore the crap out of these sensors, so I had to go to Nissan and order new ones with the plugs. To bad you cannot disconnect the 02 sensors where they lay, but you can't reach them correctly from what I was told, but I think that I could have done them from the ground before taking off the y-pipe. These set me back $108 bucks, but came with antisieze, and all new little plastic clips to plug them back to the original spots. It now looks like I never touched them. Give yourself all day to do this if you do all the items at once. It took me about 6 hours to do all the parts. If you can find a muffler shop that is willing to do this for you(Illegal Pipe), expect about $200.00 for installation.

My friend has a stick unlike me with an auto, and he dropped .7 seconds off of his 1/4 mile with these mods. That was very impressive, but he does have a cold air intake.
