Black headlights or chrome?

Just looking at the black headlights and clear corners for my daughter's 3rd gen. Was wondering if they put out as much light as the all chrome ones. They'd look good on the black car but would hate to end up with crappy lighting.

Anyone compared them or heard if there's a notable difference? Looks like the reflector is the same, just the area beyond it in front that might make a difference.

You said the "R" word. So then chrome headlights, a biga$$ wing and some go-fast stickers will do the job.

do you have projectors? otherwise, i thought the 3rd gen would be a reflection type light. you kinda need the chrome to spread the light out there.

now if you did a conversion, black would be great. I would check the 3rd gen forum instead of here to be sure what to get.

They do have a chrome reflector inside, just the areas beyond that are black. HID is the next step. The stock headlights are pretty messed up, lots of rock holes in them so have to replace them.

We did the timing belt, tensioner, waterpump, plugs, etc, this weekend. Stereo is tonight and paint is probably Wednesday. Still have to black out the chrome too.

you are a crazy idiot if you think your going to get away with HIDs in any normal 3rd gen housing unless you retro projectors to fit which it sounds like you are not going to do...

YOU WILL BLIND EVERYONE!

Geez... a little credit here! Already read all the info about not being able to adjust the lights properly, the unfocused pattern, terrible glare for oncoming drivers, even about it maybe being illegal in some states. I try to do my homework before spending my money.

Just ordered the HIDs for my truck and it's not a "conversion" kit, complete replacement light assemblies. Way more expensive (like 5 times the price) but much better. See?... I'm not the irresponsible guy you assumed I was.

Has anyone done the 9007 conversion I read about on here? That might be easier to rewire while I have the frontend apart.

My older daughter's first car was a white 1995 Taurus with a red hood, bumper and right fender, she called it the ghetto car. The guy I got it from hit a deer at 75 mph. Thing smelled like hamburger (or something) everytime you turned on the heater.

The Fleebay Euro/Euro-black lights will give you a HORRIBLE beam pattern, regardless of the interior housing color. The chrome will just add glare. I would suggest the 9007 conversion above the clear lights. It is very easy and is very effective.

Since the filament is different, you will get much more light dispersed to the sides instead of two long narrow beams. There is a write-up in the stickies in the 3rd gen forum.

I read the sticky and checked out the other website with the pics too. Does anyone make a good clear lens housing? I do like the look and used lights in yards here go for $60 to $75 a side.

So chrome is tacky and ricey? So most cars out there that come with stock chrome housing are rice? Like Porsches, they are rice and tacky?
