Just test drove a 02 6spd max!!(Impressions)
I just got back from the test drive so heres what I think!
The car was dark gray with all the option except GPS,heated seats and side air bags. The sticker price is $29,700 . The car is very refined, very, very quite and very quick! I took it out for about 15 minutes with the dealer on side roads and on the highway. The shifter felt pretty good but a bit notchy and has no free play to it. The engine is superb, it has a lot more low end TQ then my modded 95 max does. Once the engine gets going it pulls very hard, about the same as my 95 but with out all the noise. The suspension feels about the same as my I30T's does, maybe a tad bit firmer. The car is way to quite for my likeing though and is in need of a good 2 inch drop.
I'm going to hold out until this weekend because there is a nice Stirling mist 6spd with just a sunroof on the way, this car will be a bit cheeper and it's my favorite color too . If I can get the right deal I am going to buy it!
Another thing I should mention is the shifter is going to take a little while to get use to, I mist a couple shifts on the test drive. 6th gear is kinda hard to find.
Overall I give the car A-.

I think the only mods so far that will work is the 2k-2k1 Stillen RSB, the clear side markers and 2k-2k1 springs ie. h&r, eibach etc.. An intake will fix your quiet problems I'm sure. In the meantime you might be able to do an OSCAI. I drove the auto 2k2 Max and the 5spd altima and both were very quiet so you don't realize how fast you are going.

I think I could get my intake to fit with a little work, the MAFS looks like it has the same bolt pattern as mine, so the only thing I would have to do is buy or make a new intake braket. BTW I thought that 4th gen suspension was the same as 5th gen? Also the rear 5th gen body kit's will fit it and I think my UDP pulley might. Current aftermarket cat back exausts should fit too . I am going to give Stillen a call tomarrow to see whats cooking for the new max, I can't wait to see the new front lip!

s1rch, the 2002's power does not even compare to the raw power my SC I30 made. The 02 max has more of a smooth linear power band, my SC I30 just threw me in the seat at 3K RPM and just kept on pulling and pulling and pulling.., also the I30 would run circles around a stock 02 max. BTW for example my I30 did 0-60 in 5.44 which was very traction limeted, if I put slicks on it there is no dought that it would be running high 4's 0-60. A true beast..
Now put the same mods on a 6spd max and it's a whole nother story .

How about the Courtesy FSTB and Stillen FSTB? Looks like it should fit. It looks close on the cables near the driver side.

I've read abouit he sloppy shifter...apparently the 5-speed in the Alti is much better.
You give the 2k2 Max an A-...if only my profs would grade as easily.

Very refined compared to? Any other car I have been in and most importatly my 95 max.
The shifter is a little weird, nothing you could not get use to really easaly though.
