Kumho 712 or SP5000 or Yoko A550?

Kumho has no treadwear warranty. and low treadlif rating.. what mileage have yall been getting out of them. SP5000 hear good and o.k. about them. I did test drive another car like mine with Yoko A550's on them and they handled like an F1 and never could make them squeal but can't find anyone who sells them. NTB wants about $80 to mount and lifetime balance them. Which tire will last pretty long and how will you get the proration out of a warranteed tire from Tire Rack? Do you have to ship the tire to the manufacturer? Sounds like a headache if so. Thanks!! I'm strongly considering Kumho's based on what I've read in my search on this site.

Don't rule out the SP8000 I have them, NICE TIRE! Smooth ride, very sticky, can't get them to squeel at all. Good in the rain, Quiet ride. Do a search on Tire Rack and read the feedback up there on the selected tires your interested in. The feedback on the SP8000 is what made me purchase them. Nothing but praise.

Dunlop

Although I don't have personal experience with the following tires, I believe the comparable Dunlop tires (if you're balancing price/performance) to the 712s might be the SP Sport W10s and SP Sport A2s if you want to stay in that size ... IIRC.

I'd go to 225/50/16. Definitly worth it

Without question or Doubt, KUMHO TIRES!!!!

I have had them for 30,000 miles and still got about 20,000 miles+ to go. I got the Kumho 712 Supra tires. Excellent RAIN traction, no one can touch it as far as rain traction goes, that wide channel in the middle is a "BEAST". And we all know that the dry traction has already won alot of races in the professional race market.

Don't let the low price of the Kumhos fool you. These are wonderful tires. At first I was hesitant to purchase them, but not that I actually have them, they are excellent tires. Better than my Dunlop SP5000's by a mile in terms of both road noise and handling. Steering response is sharper compared with the SP5000. The Kumhos are better compared with the SP9000's actually.

The Yoko A550 are good, but they have very low treadlife. One of the reasons I purchased the Kumhos were because of favorable ratings from Tirerack (read the LONG list of customer comments on that site).

I would never trade SP-5000s for anything else. It's a great all-season tire with good snow traction.

thank you everyone for your response! I am looking for a good balance between treadlife, noise and performance. I have yet to hear anything but good about the Kumhos so I'll probably go with them. Sounds like the sp5000 is the best second choice so I'll try the Kumhos first then if I don't like them I'll try the sp5000's. I now wonder whether to get the stock 215 / 55 or go wider with 225/50.
what is the pro/con with wider tire? pro: better handling/grip ;
con: reduced gas mileage...if so then how much gas mileage are we talking? 1 or 2 per gallon? I'll probably just get the stock size.
Heck some fool put 215/ 60's on there now so they are too tall and they are some brand called 'Winston'...never heard of it before. This just gives me a good reason to get new tires. Thanks again!!!
