the VG30DE, VG30DETT, VE30DE have the same rods. the pistons are different in height but have the same bore size. if you wanted to use higher levels of boost get some factory VG30DETT pistons to lower you CR. if you want an all motor setup use the VG30DE pistons so you end up with a higher CR.

Thanks for clearing that up for me Daren but what about the cams from the VG30DETT aren't they nessary for the upgrade as well or are the stock VE cams fine.

from what I know Bryan H ran Z32 cams in his 14 second all motor VE 5spd and saw no real improvements....

dont bother with the Z32 cams. as stated b4 Bryan H did a one off custom install and got some gains but he didnt think it was worth the money. if you want cams find someone who can spec and cut some oem nissan blanks. if you decide to skip cams and install the N/A Z32 piston i'm sure stock VE cams will do, you'll be stuck with 91+ octane fuel. keep lookeing, the parts are out ther just gotta know what to look for. there are a lot of stuff that is readily available; does your wallet support it. Speed is expensive.

stage 1 - parts off the shelf
lightweight rods,pistons,flywheel
ecu,intake,exh

stage 2 - labor
port polish balance

stage 3 - parts custom
stroker crank, cams, exhaust manifolds

hom much do ya wanna spend? if i had the dough i would do it all in stages and dyno tune after each to see the results. there are plenty of VE owners that would like to know the power potential of the car especially with off the shelf (redily available) parts.

only time will tell

Don't forget the nifty ecu mods to make all this stuff work. I don't know if the stock ecu ign/fuel maps are gonna like all this. Anyone who has figured out a way to control the timing on a VE/VQ, please speak up.
