Interiors- 4th gen vs. 5th gen.
What does everyone think? I think the 5th gen is "nicer", but I prefer the 4th gen. The 5th gen interior feels cheap compared to the 4th gen. When you push the buttons they just dont have as high of a quality feel as they do on the 4th. If anyone wants me to elaborate more, I'll be glad to. And I'm not being biased just b/c I have a '97, as I said the 5th gen interior is nicer. I just think they cut some corners with the 5th gen, the inside just doesn't feel as solid. No flames please, I just wanna know what everyone thinks.
i prefer the look the of the 5th gen interior, especially the center dash(where the stereo and a/c stuff is), the flush mounting a/c vents, and the center console or very nice. i dont know about the quality being cheap, i thought it was good quality, but i haven't been in a 4th gen in a while, maybe its true, either way, they're both maximas, thus, they're are both good cars.

The 5th gen does have better quality materials, and it also doesn't have that many rattle issues like the 4th gens.

The inside door handles look and feel cheap, the window switches feel cheaper, when you lock the doors you dont hear the quality-like click like you do in the 4th gen, the center console feels cheaper, and also the ***** you turn have a cheap feeling to them. If I think of any more I'll let you know. And while some people might have problems with rattles, my '97 w/ 70,000 miles still looks and feel new on the inside. No rattles.
Wait until all of these 5th gens that have slammed their maxima's get around 70-80k on their ride.. Rattle issues will begin to arise. My dads 5th gen's sub rattles like a mo foe.. its only a matter of time until more follow.. Hopefully im wrong because that car is mine in about a year.
I have both cars, and 4th gen is GLE, and 5th Gen is SE with the Bose and ATC. Heres how I see it; the design of the 5th gen is more slick. Materials, basically about the same. Its just the look of the 5th gen that makes me feel that it is more sophisticated. Now, if you had a GXE or SE with no Bose or ATC, the feel of cheapness comes back.. my cousins old GXE was like that.

I really like the interior of the 4th gen. especially the black leather and black dash. I chosen not to have the wood trim for that reason. The black on black IMO looks rich. I like how the A?C controls and Bose Stereo are at an angle not straight up and down. I hated the camry and accord because they have that large open area under the stereo.
I like the 5th gen too, just am not too familiar.

I wish bill was here to elaborate
