Do you think 300 NA HP is possible on a 02?

I think as soon as I break in my new {soon to be } 02 6spd max I am going to do the following things: Intake, headers, RT cat, Greddy cat back exaust and UDP. I am not sure if my headers will fit but I am going to look into that this week. So anyways, do you think I could get 45 HP from this stuff? I think 45 HP is stretching it a little bit, but.. maybe? We will find out soon, but until then what kind of Crank HP do you think I would{will} get? Thanks.

I think 45 HP is streching it quite a bit. You maybe get 5-8HP out of the intake, UPD+RT Cat+Cat-back exhaust would maybe total another 5-8HP. Your headers will be a crap shoot to see if they fit, I doubt they will, but I wish you luck. So I would say 10-15HP totall after all your mods.

You get a lot a more then 5-8 HP from all the mods I mentioned above.

I guess we will see what happens

I think you should be able to get around 300HP at the crank. Then do necessary upgrades and do a 100shot of rice juice! If you redline 5th and shift to 6th do you think you would pull at all with the mods and 100shot of rice juice?

ethan you forgot ypipe... intake/ypipe combo alone will hit around 10-15hp.. and the more you add the more each will benefit..

Well it is all guessing right now. We don't know how much power can be that can be released on a 3.5L yet! The exhaust system can very well give 30+HP. We will know soon enough! Would be nice to see some dynos of a stock 2k2 max or altima in the meantime.

As soon as I hit the 1000 mile mark I will do a baseline dyno. Give me about 3 weeks!

Aznwonton, the Headers have a Y-pipe with them. I checked out the gasket #'s today though and they don't match up so I guess I will have to go with a Y-Pipe.

i'm going in for a dyno too. i have a place in worcester mass i just contacted. i can do it on a saturday and it's 100 bucks an hour. if you take 146 north it will bring you to minutes of worcester. let's do a group dyno. i'm getting a cone intake soon after i get the car. it's a short ram design. not jsut a maf piece and a cone. let me know i'm serious.

I have not actualy seen my new car yet. I have the deal all together, all I am waiting for now is the stinken trunk with my max . It's arrival date was 10/29, but teh dealer originaly said it always takes about 2 days longer then hte delivery date, so maybe tomarrow! BTW I am pretty sure it doe not have the HLSD. Ohh yeah, I traded in my I30 so it's hard to put a real # on how much I am getting my max for, I think it's about $800 over invoice.

I have a dyno about 2 miles from my house so I think I will go there. It will be interesting to see who's max makes more power stock, I am going to be cracking up when if I beat you by half a HP, LOL. If it's the other way around though..

Aww... thats cheap! You really should run on your 17's because thats how your car really is. + we could compare our dyno's better. BTW don't touch my tires punk! I will get in the car and out run you if you try it, you will probably miss shift a few times and I will be gone, lol.

you'll prolly lose hp with that, you have about as good luck as i do. look at your headers now seriously, what gear are you gonna dyno in. cus we need to do the same for the same results.

Please explain to the rest of us how power is lost by installing a smaller/lighter crankshaft pulley...

dyno in 4th gear since it's 1:1 ratio

Not with basic bolt-ons. To get more power they already have a better intake, Y-pipe and exhaust. Aftermarket parts won't make the same the same games. ECUs are a long way to never coming out. But I still think it can be done. Converting the car to Haltech, a set of custom cams and a good amount of port work would surely do the job.

it was a joke seeing as how almost no one has ever got a hard dyno proven increase from a UDP. i've seen 1hp somewhere but esp after having this mod. it's GARBAGE.

You base this on *one* post in the 5th gen. forum of a dyno chart showing no gain. Barely anyone here uses a dynojet to substantiate any gains/losses after installation of new parts. Search through the archives and you'll see several posts of quarter mile times documenting improvements in ET and MPH.

There's too much heresay and "I heard from someone" information being passed around on this forum.

actually his ET's were worse but his MPH's were slightly better but adam 4DSC analyzed the hell out of them and no real improvement was seen.

Here's what I found in search:
"Here's my best from April and my best from last night, the only difference is the weather (upper 50s and 40% humidity vs upper 80s and 75% humidity):

60' 2.246 2.326
330' 6.174 6.406
1/8 9.476 9.779
trap 74.98 73.02
1/4 14.731 15.111
trap 93.93 93.09

Making runs in 50 degree weather than another in 80 degree weather is going to worth .2 to .4 seconds. How do I know? Because I've had slightly under 100 quarter mile runs on my NA 300ZX and I still have all my time slips (with weather conditions on them). My times are consistently .1 second slower for every 10 degree difference between the runs. If Dave makes a run right now, he'd be doing 14.4 to 14.5 @ 96-97 mph easily.

14.81@95.08mph, 2.30 60' (With UDP)"

Making runs in 50 degree weather than another in 80 degree weather is going to worth .2 to .4 seconds. How do I know? Because I've had slightly under 100 quarter mile runs on my NA 300ZX and I still have all my time slips (with weather conditions on them). My times are consistently .1 second slower for every 10 degree difference between the runs. If Dave makes a run right now, he'd be doing 14.4 to 14.5 @ 96-97 mph easily.

Actually, I have made a few runs in better weather. Back in early September, I went back to the track. Off the top of my head, the conditions were in the mid 70s, 60%+ humidity, and ~30 baro pressure. My runs for the night were in the 14.81-14.92 range at a whopping 95+mph with bad 2.3X 60 foots. My 95mph trap speeds were well over 1mph higher than I've ever gotten. My best et of the night was 14.81@95mph with a horrible 2.3X 60'. My best trap speed of the night (and a personal best) was 95.5mph. Keep in mind that my track is approximately 1000' above sea level, so those mphs would be a tad higher at sea level.

So in warmer weather I ran well over 1mph faster and only .08 slower with worse 60 foots than in April. I've analyzed my ets for the September night and it appears that my car is accelerating harder at all points on the track. I just can't put the power down. I plan on going back to the track within the week to see what I can do in 40-50 degree weather.
