It's hard for me to say which one looks the best. I've owned a 3rd 4th and 5th gens and drive 6/6.5 gens on a regular basis. They all have their ups and downs. One thing that I don't like is that the newer the maxima gets, the less it feels like you're driving the car.

I'm satisfied with my 01 I30. Only thing I would prefer is a little more power, but this is about looks. And on that note, I30 > max

Btw, this thread is for ranking and discussing why you think a certain gen is your favorite, NOT ragging on other Max owners because they don't have your gen or that they don't like your gen. Some people have their cars by choice, not because they can't afford anything newer, the whole jealousy thing is so played out and immature.

Because based on prior experience, people who post comments like the one below are just trying to stir crap up. It would seem that you're back pedaling now, but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt.

I actually voted for 3rd gen, but only because there was no 1st gen I30 option, I love teh sexiness of the 3rd gen's and I30's from the rear.

been there had both.
I'd probably still have the i30 if it didn't have a coolant loss issue that I didn't want to deal with.

i say 4th not because of its oem looks but because it is a great canvas for modding. its so plain you can go any way with it.

after that: 7,6,3,5

yea the most modern combined with easiest to work with.

you start gettin up into the 5 and 5.5 gens and even changing things like plugs becomes a huge pita

hey soonerfan, this thread is bound to be based mostly on opinion as well as have a good mix of bias mixed in. I like the third gen because its lines are even, the trunk isnt 3 or 4 inches above the hood line. everything lines up.
Now, thats not to say that I do not like other genenrations. on the contrary, every version has people who do things to it to make it look pretty frickin' sweet. Its only because people modify them that they look better, and each model has its +es and -es.
think about college teams. as you know, come to OKC, you get a resounding "Boomer!!!" "Sooner!!!" as soon as you get near here. I know this, and im not a sports fan. you know this, you... well, you know.

I gave it some thought into this and it's a bit bias since i drove the second gen Maxima for such a long time but here it is:

1. 2nd gen
2. 3rd gen
3. 4th gen
4. 5th gen
5. 1st gen
6. 6th gen

I guess im a bit old school because i actually like the long boxy look of the second gen and a little bit in the third gen. It look like the designers only used a ruler to draw the entire car aside from the wheel arches. It might not be very aerodynamic but the damn thing could never go any faster then 90mph but i still love it. 260,000 miles on it and im still punching square shaped holes in the air with it.

well arent all polls/votes?
most people claim that their current gen is the best maxima ever created...now thats biased.
i wanted to see what would happen if it was open to all members of the org to vote.
it has gone just like i had expected

naw a few of us were honest and objective in our decisions

ive owned 1 3rd gen and 2 4th gens and still i recognize the 5th gen as the best looking by far.

i would own one if i coulda found it in decent condition for a fair price. most of the ones for sale, when i was looking 4 months ago, were either overpriced or beat to ****.

Now let's ask the people who DON'T own Maximas and aren't partial to their gen. I used to have a 5th gen, but I voted for the 7th.

There really is nothing that can compete with the 5th gen... It has
a somewhat subdued sport look... So any moron driving a civic
thinks they can blow by you, until you return the favor

2nd - From days when the only thing that could compete was a BMW. Then everyone and thier mom started making V6 fwd cars.
5th - Always loved this gen, almost bought a 2k brand new, and a 2k2 when it was a couple years old...but deals fell thru.
4th - VQ all the way.
3rd - A Maxima that could corner.
1st - Have you seen these with turbos in them? Holy crap.
7th - Not entirely sure what to make of it, but I'm liking it day by day.
6th - Driven a few, nice cars. Just don't think they are for me.
