Methinks some people are ****ed that they paid $$$ for a rebadged Honda

"Real Luxury"? Okay there bud...Just about every Acura I've seen looks like a damn toy car...IMO, Nissan/Infinti exude way more class than Honda/Acura.

Who would want a rebadged Honduh anyways?

At least there is a difference between a Nissan and an Infiniti

When you spend that much money and have to justify it by ragging on Maxima's... without saying much of anything bad about Max's ... that says little about the cls and a lot about the Max. What they are really ****ed is that folks keep comparing them to the Maxs and not the cars that they WANT to be compared to...

"We are driving luxury / performance coupes that compete with BMW 330ci, CLK 320, Volvo C70, etc... (Remember that we should not go down to their level)"

LOL...

AC is a real chap!

I would like to see one of those guys race the faster Maximas on this board. I think we should have a Max vs CL-S/TL-S drag so we can shut them up.

i like em both i wish i could have both, but i like the Maxima in more little ways than the Acuras, i've driven a TL, and ridden in a CL (gona drive it soon hehe) and they are nice cars no doubt, its hard to decide which one is better, I dont even want to try

They're flattering themselved thinking a CL-S competes w/ a 330ci. I'm so sure, the Bimmer knocks that car out of the water, thats like comparing our cars to an A6 or something.

actually... as i posted way back.

i was able to beat a 330 series coupe. Not sure if it was just "i" or "ci" nor was it an auto or manual.

We were pretty much dead even until second gear. As soon as i got on 3rd i ever so pulled on him, albeit slower than i hoped.

but i pulled nevertheless

i have my gripes about those CL-S people bashing on the Max (and vice versa).

i have nothing against either car as i believe in my heart they're both of high quality and are well respected. it all just comes down to choice and preference.

but given some people compare a 5spd 222HP Max and a 5auto 260HP CL-S (all bone stock) wouldn't you consider that just a bit too unfair?

i'm amazed that the 222hp max can even hold it's own against the CLS but bashing the 222 as being "slower/bad/worse/low quality/etc." is not my idea, nor a good excuse for saying "My Acura is better/faster/better quality/etc."

compare it for what it's worth - apples to apples.

well u guys know what i mean...

Since I don't quite like Hondas, I never test-drive Honda and Acura three times I purchased new cars, only sat in for a feel. Just from the looks of interior and exterior, and some controls, my impression is that among three Jap's luxury brands, Acura is the lowest. I happened to get in and out of RL (most expensive Acura?), its interior can't compare to either Infiniti or Lexus, and when I closed its door it just sounded like a much cheaper car. Sorry no driving experience I can provide, and I will probably never have.

Some of those Acura guys need a reality check and need to keep up on current events. I stopped by a local dealership this past weekend and saw a Camry sticker at over $30k and a Maxima at $31k!!! I had to double check to make sure that I wasn't on a Infinti or Lexus dealership lot!!!!!

Back when I first got my maxima and started to hang out on the boards, I can remeber when we would go at it tooth and nail with the BMW 325 guys. Now its the TL-S/CL-S guys. I don't remeber anything being resolved with the BMW group and nothing will be resolved with the Acura group.

Good idea! Too bad I don't live in that area, because I would show those Acura guys what my car is made of. Acura is a nice car don't get me wrong, but the new max can eat it for breakfast.

if you want to invite them to race or ask them a real question then that is good, but don't just go there to that's not the right way to deal with things

I will only go there to tell how it really is. They are trying to compare two cars that can't be compared. At the same time if you put up 260hp power of the new maxima against their 260hp they will not stand a chance. Like I said it's a nice car, but they really need to chil out just a bit. We are all on the same team, we should unite and show those domestics what real cars are all about.

This is so very sad. There are pros and cons of both cars. They compete head to head for sales and the Acura has been winning simply b/c it has in the past offered more for the money. A I30 and the new I35 MSRP for more than a TL-S w/ the same features. If you guys haven't figured it out, Nissan skimps in some areas to offer more in others. This is the same for every carmaker. The Infiniti has to be the most expensive car in America to offer a rear beam axle on a fwd car. The Acura is built in America alongside the Accord and it uses only a SOHC design.

As for speeds, I really doubt the 2002 Max is going to be that much faster than the Acura if any at all. The Acura has been shown to run mid 14's consistently and I really don't see that much more out of the Max. 1st off, the Max's auto is the same as previous years meaning its slow shifting and geared relatively tall(more power will help that some). The Acura uses its 5spd auto to its advantage by putting in a final drive lower than my Prelude's to help acceleration. The 6spd on the CL will probably help it marginally w/ powertrain losses but not much since the auto already has such aggressive gearing. The max's manual is already known to be useless w/ 2 overdrive gears. The Max wins out in curb weight by about 100-150lb and slightly in torque but unless the transmission is dramatically updated, its still holding the car back.

The two cars are as closely matched as any competing models available. Since the both aren't even available on the market yet, its kind of moot point to compare them based only on a couple of street races of previous versions where variables can allow either to come out ahead. I've seen a Type S outrun an ITR running mid 14's yet apparently they're all slower than 3rd Gen Maximas running on 3 cylinders on this forum. I know the 2002 auto max is available and I'd like to see a subjective race of one against a TL-S at a safe venue. That's about the only fair comparison possible right now. Otherwise all this stuff is just brand posturing and useless flaming. The TL guys are gonna be biased toward their cars since they did drop 30K on them and many of you have put nearly that much into your cars.

Not everyone in that forum was a jerk. I posted my reply to the thread telling them that both cars are great and we should talk all this **** about one another, and someone made a nice reply. Some people talk too much garbage. At least I got my word in before they closed that thread.

I do know what you mean. That they would go on and on ragging on Maximas tells me that the Max is kick-***. Otherwise, why would they say anything about it at all? We are just a little toooo close and quick for their comfort level. They are too used to ******* the Camrys and the Accords and the Tauruss

based on value ect.. bmw values sucks, you get the car for such a high price, and you dont get JACK with it.. but still i would rather have a 330 over TLS anyday.. handling, short gears, man, what a sweet ride.

I agree !

first off they're saying that max is faster by very little and thats 222 HPs vs 260HPs.... so are u going to go for the more expensive one with more hp but that is "slower"???.....

quality wise I think the max is just as good quality has acura they both last for ever... but the maxima got a one of the best V6 ratings in its cat.

now if we look into the futur the new 6 spd maxima with 255 hp's is coming out as we speak... and if the 222 hp max is just as fast as the 260 hp tl-s,then what do u the results are going to be when nissan's 255 hp vs acura's 260 hp ??? you make the math

concl. they're both awsome cars cuz they're imports and we got to support that ...

peace
