I hate how you can see the spare tire area from the lower back, it looks real ugly.

Things I hate about my 97 GLE:

1.) Why the hell is the toggle switch for cruise control placed behind the steering wheel like that? You can't see it unless the wheel is turned a certain way or if you reach up and look over it.

2.) I have an automatic. When I am in speeding up between 20 and 30 mph, the car sort of jerks. I hate that. A lot... Sitting at idle, like at a red light or something, the car tends to vibrate, not much, but enough to annoy me and I will usually put the car in neutral and it stops until I shift back into drive.

Those are the only things I can think of...

Oh and sometimes my accelerator sticks, but I am not sure if that's because of the car or because of the weather warming up out here.

the only single complaint i have about 3rd gens is its a bit packed for space when you need to wire for subwoofers, and the stock rear speakers are a bear to get out to swap for new ones, but i suppose back then subs werent too popular. only con i have

I have an '04 SE. My only complaint is the lousy turn radius.

It got hit by a tree limb in the Ice Storm. Going to cost to much to fix unless I do the body work myself. Anyone know if a 97 rear quarter panel and roof will fit a 98?

I hate the clunking noise up front that some tech told me "don't worry about it unless it breaks." It drives me insane.

I basically love my car and haven't had it too long. However, the only thing that I really hate is that it needs 93 octane. Gas is expensive enough!

Oh and the G35 Sedan (at least the 08) is RWD. My sister bought one and I test drove one. Cool car. This is in response to someone pages and pages ago.

The two things that bother me are the rear suspension (would prefer an independent one) and all the rattles in the car. It seems every time I find a way to get rid of one, another one shows up. It wouldn't bother me so much if I had a econobox, but I expect better with this car.

Other small things are the wide turning radius, the fact that the steering wheel controls don't light up, and the noise from the front right suspension.

Other than that, it's a great car.

this is my third Maxima, my first was the 1985 model, with the digital dash, and it spoke to you, why did they stop that. loved that car.

my second was the 1989 Se 5 speed superblack, the shifter was sitting on top of the damn heat shield, the rubber that suspended it broke off, other than that the mass air flow sensor was ****ty, but it was pretty dependable car otherwise.

now we come to my third 5.5 gen 6 speed superblack, I'm disappointed in Nissan in making a car to fragile, engine wise. owning older models, i found them to be more reliable, these newer cars are soft to me, too much sensors that don't last long, that are quit pricey. the new engines are more powerful but to me the older VG30 award winning engine was a better motor. my.02

And this will happen until the water dries up. I hate that! I gotta make sure i carry paper towels to wipe off the bottoms of my shoes to dry them before I start driving
Just a suggestion...I had a 1973 Chevy LUV (with a 350sb and T350 tranny, but we're not here to talk about that, this is time for Maximas) and the pedals got down to bare metal. I ran into the same problem with my foot slipping off. I just took them out of the truck and sprayed them with truck bed-liner. I don't know how the pedals look on your Maxima but, if you were really good with masking/painters tape, you could just make lines of bed-liner across the pedals to make it a little less cheesy looking. Hope that helps...

Those bloody interior clips! The little metal ones, they never stay on!! No matter how much i widen or tighten them they just pop right out nearly every time to push a panel back on.

Other than that, i love my Maxima, He is so gentle.

The most noticable time is when it's cold and I'm backing up and turning, so you may be right. I'll spray some wd40 on them and see if it quiets them down for a bit...This is currently the only thing I hate about my car.

well, I have an 82' max and here's the few things I don't like about it.

1. weird brown color... why did they even make it like that? it's hard to explain, see pics...
2. 100,000 OLD and fragile misc. fuel injection lines on the intake that make the car IMPOSSIBLE to run unless they are all super air tight .... they ALL have been replaced by now though...
3. the seat is set too close to the the steering wheel, I have it all the way back and when I look left, i'm looking at pillar just to be seated comfortably.... i'm 6'3 so that might be the problem....
4. my old auto trans does weird things all the time, shifts at inconsistent times.... it's holding together pretty good though/ not slipping....
5. my shocks / struts / rear suspension is so worn out, that having anything more than 20lbs in the trunk makes the gas tank scrape the ground
6. it's so old people have to ask what is?

7. crappy 4x113.5? (something like that) bolt pattern, cant use any cool wheels unless i 5lug swap it, which is ALOT of work, especially when I could justify many other mods before that one...

I hate how they put the center console/arm rest release button on the front, so every time you actually rest your arm on the front of it, it goes up!

3. rattling in dash and sunroof when going over bumpy roads.
4. wide turning...i can't even make a uturn on my street while my dad's ford explorer can make a turn plus room to spare =/
5. i get crappy gas mileage
6. a lot of road and wind noise
7. stiff ride...when i hit a bump or pot hole car will feel like it's gonna pop
8. stupid trunk floor sags no matter how i position that board thing
9. rear seat isn't that comfortable...headrest area too short and roof too low.
10. cd skips with the bose
11. when window is rolled down half way or slightly opened, when you close the door it sounds like it's gonna break and glass shakes. my old accord never had this problem.
12. stock xenon headlights are ok but doesn't go far...not as good as toyota/lexus ones.
13. fog light lense cracks easily
14. a lot of vibration when driving...hard to explain but i feel it everywhere =(
im with you on #1, it pisses me off especially how there isn't a absolute solution to that problem after reading countless forums for a solution

-stiff ride!

The one thing currently pissing me off is I have a loose wire somewhere from my head unit to my left side speakers that will make the speakers quit working under acceleration but work again under braking.

This is a common issue in 5th gens, I replaced my head unit because of it. You can try this.
