Completed! Installing Shock Sensor on stock alarm!

Yes guys and gals, the install was successful. The car now has a shock sensor and it works great!!!! I will take a video of it actually working soon, but for now, the HOW-TO page is done with pictures and step-by-step how to install one for yourself!

Enjoy!

P.S., this will work on 4th gens as well...just read the instructions.

Re: Completed! Installing Shock Sensor on stock alarm!

How hard do you have to hit the car to activate the shock sensor? I'm just curious. My aftermarket alarm came with the shock sensor; one slight knock on a window is enough to set off the alarm.

Good work by the way.

Depends how sensitive I have it set. I have it where it takes a good hit to set it off.

You probably could use the door pin switch to activate the OEM alarm. It's a negative sensing circuit I believe. This way, you wouldn't have to worry about going through the firewall. Or, if you can access the BCM (Body control module). It would be even easier to tap the wire at the source.

How does it know to work with your stock alarm?
How do you turn it off when the sensor is set off?
Why did you connect it to the hood sensor?
DOnt you have to hard wire it to your stock alarm? You only connected it to the power wire?
Thank you

like Tony said, I think there is probably an easier way than going through the firewall

I know on 3rd gens, the stock alarm in under the dash and I would think 4th and 5th are probably the same way. You could just tap the wire there and not have to run so much wire and drill.

either way, good job

if you 3rd gen guys are wondering, the hood pin switch is grey/black wire going into the alarm which is just under the drivers side dash panel to the left of the steering column

Also, the title on that page still says "Installing Clear Corners...". I guess you just copied that original page you made with Microsoft Front Page 4.0

Re: Re: Completed! Installing Shock Sensor on stock alarm!

It's a negative grounding circuit. The power wire +12V is always constantly on. The negative wires is the trigger. When the hood opens, door opens or trunk opens, the negative wire gets grounded. This will complete the circuit and activate the alarm. You can turn it off by hitting your OEM key fob.

Cool

Now all I'd like to to do is add a secondary siren to the alarm...and chirp when activated.

So is only 3 wires to connect right. The power under the steering column, ground, and another one under the hood. Is it that easy?

Where can I get a good sensor. Not some toy R us b u l l ****.

Thank you.

Will the same thing work for a internal motion sensor? (Like to drop windows with remote and don't want people reaching in)

Craig, is the hood-pin a positive or negative wire? Will any intruruption to the Alarm Input Wire set off the alarm? I don't want a relay clicking everytime I go over bump, so I'm trying to figure out a way to use these negative input devices with the positive alarm trigger.
