Is it a special shop you went to, or just a regular paintshop?

I went to a powercoating shop. As far as durable, I think it's pretty durable. I already have a few chips on the front driver side wheel, but that was due to my fault. I scrapped against a side curb, so any wheel would be damaged if that happened. A little touch paint took care of that problem.

Not yet. I'm still not finish with the SC setup. I need to do a custom CAI, plus swap in a smaller pulley. Then, I should be ready to go to the track.

did you just specify "black with gloss" or did you have them match up the color code to your body?
how did you come about picking that color?
victor: yeah, any color the shop has

Its not paint. Im not 100% sure on the method but it has to do with negatively charged particles of powder that attach themselves to the wheel. Then the wheel is baked, which hardens the powder into the metal. Something like that
Anyways, its alot stronger than just regular paint.

got rice?:I know the pics aren't the best. I was in a bit of hurry. And having a cheapo digicam doesn't help. The rims look a lot better in person, the pics don't do them justice.
mozy:the color is actually glossy black. "Sinister Black" just make it sound better. I picked this color because I want to have a "dark" look. I wanted a shade that would match up nicely with my superblack Maxima. Also, I hardly see anyone in my area with black rims, especially on a Maxima. So, just wanted to be different.
wope:the closest track here would be in Baton Rouge. If there was a track near me, I would be a regular for sure.
redmaxpa007:no, I didn't use double sided tape. I used the plastic screws that came with it.
I don't think you could powercoated in just any colors. You would have to pick a shade that matches closest to the color you want. I think it depends on the shop that does this. I wanted gunmetal at first, but they didn't have any shade that was close to gunmetal, so I chose glossy black.
Thanks for the comments guys.

Another reason why I chose black because I heard black meant sleeper.

Most powdercoat shops have 50-100 colors to choose from. The selection isn't as vast as a normal body/paint shop but the colors available are all the primary colors with slightly different shades.

im kinda ****ed now cause I had this idea since last year (to powder coat my rims black), but now I know for SURE that Im gonna do it you beat me to it, but DAMN that looks good...mmmm......
$60/rim is the same price I was told.
BUt see, what Im wondering is....how do you balance your black wheels when there are only silver weights????
i dont think I want my black rims covered with white balancing weights....anyone know how they take care of that problem? (the tire shops)??

You from Nawlins? I am also.
Theirs a track in Donaldsonville thats ~1.5hrs
Theirs a track in Hattiesburg thats ~2hrs
Theirs a track in Gulfport thats ~1.5hrs
Hattiesburg is much nicer and a litle easier on the rules, thats where I go.
Gulfport is CRAP!
Donaldsonville is brand new, so I havent been yet.

Yeah, balancing and aligning is a very good idea if you get your tires taken off and put back on.
If you dont balance...your tires can and will have uneven wear.
THeres some other problems with not balancing....but im too dazed to remember...
basically, just do it if you can find a cheap place, its a good idea.

Those are Apexi EL gauges; boost and egt gauges. I think I need one more gauge, maybe a fuel pressure gauge. I think I'll go with the cheaper gauge this time. Apexi gauges are expensive!
