Warranty: Secured Preowened Plus Should I Get It? Horror Stories?

I Bought a 05 Alitima SE-R 2 weeks ago and denied coverage. But now im thinking i should go and buy the preowened plus package from nissanextendwarranty.com for about 1700 for 6 years 100k... My questions are how is dealing with the warranty covarage at the stealerships when trying to get repairs? Have there been any horror stories that they dont cover certain EXPENSIVE things. Or are the most expensive things covered?

Let me know what you guys think THANKS

There is a brochure on the warranty program offered. Read it cover to cover including the deductibles and see if it will benefit you. It will tell you what is covered and what isn't.

On the warranty, it is 6 years or 100,000 miles from the "in service date" which actually shows up on the carfax. Basically you have around 3 years left or 100,000 miles whichever occurs first.

I personally haven't heard any horror stories on the warranty. The Nissan branded extended warranty is probably better than say a different warranty company.

warranty company issues:
1. several have gone out of business within the last few years
2. progard will deny ALL claims from specific shops if they feel that the shop had too many claims made, even if their adjusters came out and verified every issue.

good point:
if you buy it at the same time as your car, you can roll it into the monthly payment and have a longer warranty to cover most issues on the car. my family has used them on multiple cars, multiple times. They are a better value on a brand new car rather than a used car.
we got a 7 total year warranty on our 00 malibu back in 00 when it was new for $1000 or so.
we got the same warranty thrown in for "free" when we got the 04 malibu in 05

The aftermarket warranties that are sold at a dealer are usually going to be better than one you buy at a used car lot or elsewhere. The Mercedes dealer I worked for sold "EasyCare" warranty and they were more honest than most, but even still it was nothing like the factory warranty. Like Maximadave said, READ THE PAMPHLET! Often any electrical accessories are not covered and there's a whole lot of stuff that falls into that category. Also make sure that the warranty provides NEW OEM replacement parts. Some companies will scrounge junk yards for used parts to fix your car. Since they are not insurance companies, they dodge a lot of the laws designed to eliminate that practice.
