Original color or different color? I had approximates for $2500-$3000 for the same color and almost $5000 for a different color. This is an actual paint job, completely take the car apart, prep, and paint. Oddly enough i went to another place and they quoted me for $4000 for a Chromolusion paint job. By the way i live in Northern Illinois.

Man, that sounds awfully high or I got a really good deal. About 2 years ago someone backed right into the side of my 95 Maxima. I had to have the whole rear driver side door replaced. They also had to paint the whole driver side of the car (hood, roof, etc.)from front to back (basically if you were to cut the Max in half from above) so the color would match and I had that expensive white paint with the chips in it. This whole thing cost less than $1500 and the door was probably a few hundred itself. They did a really good job. It looked like it never even happened. I'm glad you asked that cause I now have a 97 Max and I have several rock chips on my hood, and a scratch here and there on the sides. I was actually reading about something called air brush touch ups which is for scratches and rock chips. They say this is much cheaper and very easy to do compared to a complete paint job. I'm currently trying to find someone in my area that specializes in this so I can get a price quote. Does anyone know of any info on this, good or bad?

No, my decutible is $500. I got a $3000 paint job for $500. I got a body kit painted for nothing. It was thrown into the deal, due to the $3000 price tag! Lets say it was kind of a god send. Seeing it needed paint anyway!

did insurance just pay for you to paint your car because you wanted to or did something really bad happen? (vandalism for example)...or did you jsut decide you had too many scratches and chips for your liking?

No, it was scratched at the beach. Others have had this problem there.

Please use the search function, thank you.

We've had numerous posts on new paintjob inquiries within the past 6 months. I'm sure previous posts would prove to be informative.

how badly was it scratched? So you just went to the insurance agent and told them someone scratched my car really badly and need a new paint job?

For anything decent, $2K if it's the same color. For a color change, add on another $1-$1.5K for a good job. Some paints cost more than others. The paint on my car is probably 40% more expensive than most paints because it's a hard color to make. Also, ask how many coats of paint they're using, etc. That all factors into the price. My car has 6 coats of paint and 3 coats of clear. Cheap shops like Maaco spray on like 1 coat of paint and no clearcoat. Grand total to paint my car? $5.5-$6K, thank god for sponsorships. I think Ange's paint job was similar in price. You get what you pay for.

It was pretty bad! Luckly (I guess?) pretty much every panel had some damage. If only one fender had been scratched, they would have painted that fender! My car is sterling mist, which is hard to match and would been an obvious different shade. So seeing it was all scratched, the only way to do it right is to paint the whole car!........ after noticing the damage, I went to the local police station and reported it. They made a police report and then I called my insurance, to put in a claim......My car looks new again, so it wasn't all bad!

interesting, I hope someone really scratches my car up now, because its all scratched up already with millions of minor scratch. Did you have the option of painting the car a different color?

No, I don't think the insurance co. would go for this.....Painting the car a different color is very costly!

BEFORE YOU GET YOUR CAR PAINTED!

Make sure you know what they plan on doing.

I was quoted for my other car.

$1600 to sand down to metal, chemically treat and paint same color.
$2000 to remove window moulding and paint under them (or else they get taped off)
$2700++ to paint where the door covers inside the car
Pearl coat is extra.

Be careful you know what they are going to remove and what they are just going to tape off!!!!

He said for show quality paint you have to disassemble (almost) everything. This will cost about 5-6K.
