Check the plug wires or distributer cap?!!??! lol, VQ doesn't have a cap, and it has direct ignition so no wires. hahaha

wow

well, I will say that I didn't know that. I honestly thought that the VE was the only direct Ignition engine in the maxima family

cool, see, this thread wasn't completely worthless.

actually it was completely worthless cause it has nothing to do with the orginal question..anyways, if anyone has any clue or advice id really apprecaite it. I spent alot of time today and still couldnt figure it out

3 wires on the Ignition coil, Verifed there is voltage, verified there is a good ground, so i think the only thing left is the trigger/signal wire from ECU. any other suggestions? maybe an out of phase cam or crank sensor causing a weak spark??
Orginally i did have a P1320 code which was Ignition primary circuit. I follwed the service manual and checked out the condenser, it was out of spec so i replaced it and that did jack tho. pleaes help@!

Try swapping the 2 Crank shaft position sensors and the camshaft sensor. It only takes about 10 minutes.

i dont have spare ones.....

we did some more poking around and turns out the voltage signal to #2 is low. All others are higher...dunno what this means tho...SUCKS

Hmm, damn I really wish I could help you out, if I lived near by I would. If you still suspect the CPS's or CPS is at fault I would definatly try testing them with a volt meter. Also make sure all the wires to the coil is in working order, maybe a wire was damaged when you put the motor in? Other then that theres ground wire{s} but you allready said you double checked them?

i havent checked the cam or crank sensors yet. mayube ill do that when i get back from LA. Its weird cause its only the #2 cylinder. oh well we'll see. we verified the wire wasnt open or shorted. The coil is good, and i dunno what else to check....ughhh

Visually inspect the connectors on the harness plug. If they dont grip onto the coil terminals good you will have bad connections. Compare the harness plug from #2 to another working cylinder.

I feel for you guys that just want to make something work and then something rediculous always hinders the finished product.
