The future of the Maxima

I was checkin out edmunds insideline and there's an article about a 4Dr GT-R.

http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do...ticleId=134407

Could this be the next maxima, and the Altima takes place of this current Maxima??? If its not then I think that the Maxima will be Axed out since the Altima is already starting to encroach on its territory.

Either way, this is going to be one hell of a Sedan.

Let the Discussion begin....

I frankly don't really like how the 6th gen has looked VERY similar to the altima and felt that maxima needed some strong points to really distinguish the two.

This last design is a step in that direction.

this will be pretty sweet to have. but i agree that the altima has gotten much better over the years and is now almost the same as a maxima...but in my opinioin, maxima will always be a little better, by having more toys and by being bigger

Good link. However, that car has nothing to do with the Maxima. In regards to the Maxima being replaced by the Altima. I think it is very unlikely. Although the two cars in terms of performance are very close, they still have their differences that separate the two cars. In many ways the two cars are like the Camry and the Avalon. While they both share a similar engine, the two cars are geared towards two completely different markets.

this $100k sedan is not going to replace a $30k sedan and may end up being badge as an Infiniti...the article doesnt say either way and we all remember how mad they were over not getting the gt-r

What's to be mad about, Nissan=Infiniti so they're still getting their money either way. Also about the comparison between Camry and Avalon, look at how the Camry has basically stolen the sales from the Avalon. I hardly see any of the current style Avalons on the road, that thing is just huge and it doesnt really feel more luxuries than the Camry. I've been in both. You guys are right about 7th gen Maxima being more different than the Altima, but I still think its not enough.

no way nissan replaces their flagship sedan with a $100k "supercar" or supercar sibling.

I bet Nissan introduces it along side the maxima as a nissan or even as an infinity if it is going to be a bigger softer beast, i think that would fit the infinity market well if that trueley is what it is going to be

well since they replaced the stanza with the altima, I think there will always be 3 platforms to choose from they just stepped up the maxima and it still only comes as a 4 door where as the other two come as a 2 door or a 4 door. Now they might start adding some of the electronic stuff they have for the infinity

really? 100k? seems steep considering the 2 door is only 70k... 75-80k seems more reasonable
