I have to give credit to Don Davis Nissan in Arlington (TX)
I've been having a problem with an intermittent pending P0340 and P0011 codes (camshaft position sensor and IVT solenoid) and the FSM states to check oil level and cleanliness first. I've been going to the local lube goons (Kwik Kar) to get the oil changed. I used to always change my own oil but the last few years it is just easier to pay someone to get it done and not have to deal with recycling the oil. Plus they top off fluids, check tire pressure, etc and I am in and out in less than half an hour.
Anyway, since I've been having the pending codes that could be oil related and I was due an oil change anyway, I stopped in at the dealer to get a Nissan oil filter to have Kwik Kar start using. They claim the Fram filter they use is just as good and has a similar anti-drain back valve but I wanted to eliminate the Fram filter as a possible problem with the codes I've been getting. The parts department at Don Davis is right next to their express service department so for giggles, I asked what a full synthetic oil change runs. $54.95 he says. Wait...what? Kwik Kar has been charging me $71.96 before tax.
I don't mind paying for convenience but an extra $17?
Don Davis had me in and out in about 45 minutes. No hard sell on a few issues they found (mostly maintenance stuff they didn't know if I had done or not) either. Most impressive for a dealer.
I just figured as much grief as most Nissan dealers get here, I thought I'd throw out a positive experience too.
