hmmm...
see, there's the Celica lights. New Celicas always look bizarre, but here's a car 2 years away that is going to copy that. They are always alittle before their time. I dont really care for that. but I like the front cap, and I cant wait to feast my eyes on the 911 rump. I'll be alittle closer a midlife crisis then, perfect timing.
What is the price of the R35 Skyline? I know that they are a little on the expensive side, but are they really in the same price range as the Ferrari and Porsche? (I mean in Japan where you can really buy them, I know the cost to import them is in that range)
From what I heard a while back
Theres a company here in the US that imports Skylines. It comes to about $90,000 in the end and they fix up all the emmisions too to make it legal. I forget what the company is called.
The company is called Motorex, or something similar to that. . . I know that they are charging like 90K for a R34 V-Spec or something like that. . . I just wanted to know what the cost of a new one in Japan was? If I have heard right they are about half of what they are asking for here.

Very nice, but what happened to the $25k price point they were shooting for? $30k jumps you into a whole other realm, IMO.

The prob with the Skyline is...
That Motorex is NOT Nissan. They have to pay quite a bit to import Skylines on their own, and to make a decent profit, they have to charge $90K for an R34 GT-R.
But there is the lower-level R34 GT25 Skyline which already makes power equal to the previous R33 GT-R(both rated at 280hp), and only costs about $23-25K, with current dollar to yen values. Taking the tariffs into account, say about $30K at most. This might be the version that Nissan would bring over here.
Not to mention the fact that Infiniti will have a coupe based on the Skyline chassis, but with the upcoming 320hp 4.5L V8 used in the next Q45.

Yawn....
Nissan is still clueless... Offering boring cars, and trying to have us think they "will have the highest power rating in its class" according to Carlos Ghosn.
But stop and think about this for a moment, a V6 3.5L VQ engine putting out 280hp or even an unlikely 300hp will NOT be class leading.
Let's see, in the under $30K segment of sports cars, the Camaro SS & the Trans AM WS6 each put out 320hp, the Mustang Cobra puts out 305hp, so what advantage does the Z have? It will most certainly NOT win any horsepower contests in its class...
And if Nissan is thinking along the lines of competing with the higher price-segment cars like the upcoming M3 (330hp), or the Corvette (350hp) or the new Corvette Z06 (380hp), then they are in for a rude awakening.
So what's so special about this new Z? Is it the fact that it is cheap or that it is underpowered? I can't decide.
