play hard ball with dealer?
play hard ball with dealer?
It has been 6 weeks and my 2002 hasn't arrived yet. I am thinking of going there later this week and tell them if the car doesn't get here by say Nov. 20, I will need my deposit back (VISA).
Give me your opinion regarding this deal:
2002 Maxima 6 speed SE with everything. We don't have Nav in Canada.
I get the car at $1,000 under MSRP, which is about $24,500US include pdl before 7%tax. Most Canadian I talk to or read about pay about the same. People in Eastern Canada pay as low as $34,800 but here we don't have the extra 8% tax. Is that a good deal? I think I can do better than the $36,866 they gave me 6 weeks ago. Things have been slow at various dealers.
Here is the second part of the deal:
I am giving back the leased 99SE with 52,000km. Two dealers have seen it and both said it is in great shape. The dealer that I left a deposit at will give me $22,000Cdn for it. The buyout is about $23,500, meaning I will need to give them $1,500. On the agreement we stated that I have the option to sell it privately.
I went to another dealer and they said if they take my car they will make a profit and list it at $25,900Cdn minimum. That is likely a $3,000 profit for the dealer upon that sale.
SOOOOOOO, since the car isn't here I might just go and say I want my deposit back. I figure they are hungry for business and $1,500 above invoice for the 2002, and the fact I need to put in $1,500 onto my 1998 isn't attractive. IT sounded ok when I signed the paper 6 weeks ago.
PS. The paper does not have any lease payment info, nor VIN. Upon delievery I can decide if I am happy with the car. Since no car is here and they mentioned 4-6 weeks I should be able to do my thing.
