Blank key, sub or master?

I really need to get a new Nissan key, because the replacemnt ket I got from a hardware store is just stupid. I have to move the key around to open a door, start the car, and even worse, opening the trunk(which I dont do much with the key anyway).

I went HERE for the key. I seen theres 3 keys, a sub key, another key (which is not available), and a master key(which comes with 2 keys), what I dont understand, is which one can I use for the ignition, doors, and trunk? I know the master key will work with all, but will the sub key work with all too?

I would really like to know this before I go back to sleep, so I can order it, and stop ruinning my replacement key.

Just to let you know, the sub key I was/still looking at, is this http://www.courtesyparts.com/80600p-key-blanksub-maxima-a32b-1995-1999-p-132364.html] ONE [/url]

Ummm, go back to the hardware store and tell him the key isn't cut right?
That would be smart.

Thanks, I never thought about that, ohh, yea I did it 3 times, with 3 different people. If I go to a nissan dealer, they will cut the key perfectly, not sloppy, like hte hardware stores. They want to charge me $20.-$30. for 2 new keys, which I dont have. If I hget a nissan key, or any key I can pay them to cut it perfectly to what it needs to be.

A word of advice: Dont let anybody barrow your master keys, only cheap hardware store cut keys should do. If you let your sister barrow your car, and your sisters friend drives it, and purposely looses the key. Unfortunity, thats what happened to me, when I first got the car, I didnt have a drivers licence, but I still drove the car a bit.

My keys came with a code. It's in some kinda Nissan database of keys. So if I ever lose my 'master' key, nissan can look it up and cut fresh ones. Lucky me, I don't have a transponder in the key, so I'm good to go.

Do you currently have any good keys that work in the door, glovebox, and trunk?

Ok, I looked at that parts page.

80600N Maxima KEY-BLANK,MASTER xxx no transponder. Good for older cars
80600NA Maxima KEY-BLANK,MASTER xxx transponder, found in newer cars, probably 1999+

80600P Maxima KEY-BLANK,SUB xxx as far as I remember, this key didn't open my glove box. I never tried opening the trunk with this, but that's a pointless matter cuz the person can just pull/push the trunk release anyways.

Hope this helps you.

Ok, I know you have a 1995, but here's the 1996 manual, it should apply for you too
http://www.courtesyparts.com/pdf/1996-Nissan-Maxima.pdf

Goto page 2-2
It doesn't mention the 'sub key', but that's typically the 'valet' key, the one you give the valet or your mechanic, so they don't mess w/your locked stuff in the glove box.

You should still do it. You will end up spending more than 20-30 dollars if you keep avoiding Nissan.

Thanks for the help. I might end up getting both keys, but I'll go to a Nissan dealership to see if I might be able to get 2 or one master key very cheap.
