broke key in lock

this morning i went to warm my car up and went to unlock it and the key broke in the lock. i have another key so i can still get in it. but is there any way i can get the piece out of the lock without calling a locksmith. most of the key is in the lock. anyway can i take off the doorpanel and take the lock off and try to jiggle it out?

I am suscribing to your thread because I have the same problem. I have been told you can file a bobby pin down and try that but I have not gotten around to trying it. Good luck and I hope you figure it out because it will help me too.

might want to try a strong magnet, the key is magnetic right?

try using a hemostat or heavy duty tweezers. if all else fails, maybe you could remove the lock assembly and push the key back out

why dont you try super gluing a really thin piece of metal to the end of the key and pulling it out that way? or even use the paper clip youre using. a tiny amount should do it so it wont stick to the lock itself.

dont you have a keyless remote? i never use my key to unlock/lock my door, not even my trunk. i only use the key for the ignition.

Haha that was the same thing I did when a key got stuck in a door lock, luckily, the key wasn't broken in the turned position so I just super glued a tough piece of wire to the key and pulled it out.

Why not try and super glue the broken part of the key back on to it as it should be a good fit.
