I need some help for vandalism!

I go to school and so I am forced to use the school parking lot, but after a few months I noticed that my car has been getting more and more scratched. Last week, some jackass keyed my car, from the clearance light on the driver's side all the way to my brake light on the driver's side... I fixed it with some touch up paint, since thanks to my obsessive compulsive disorder about keeping my car waxed and shiny the fool only got through the wax layer and a little bit into the paint. But not long after that someone keyed in two upside down V's on my driver's side door!

And this time they took the time and made sure to go over their outline so that it gets all the way into the metal... and I am pissed off!!

Damn kids!

And so I was wondering if you guys have some advice, my car already has a alarm but it only works when someone opens the door from the inside when armed, and when someone tries to use something other than the key to open the door.

So is there some sort of alarm that goes off when someone touches the car? Or some sort of warning siren when someone gets too close. I am not talking about a full blast alarm that goes off when someone gets close but a little beep or flash of lights when someone gets close and after a certain time the siren will go off... of course if you guys have anything better please share them. I am on the verge of waiting in my car just to catch the mother ****** in action and then beat the hell out of them with a bat.

Now that I looked everything over there is a total of 7 separate scratches all over the car that was not there when I bought my car, and no one in my school knows that I have a Maxima... and I am a good person who doesn't make enemies at school so........ and also I modded my car more than those Honda guys at school so maybe its them.......

Sorry I had to fix some spelling errors, I am too "perplexed" to spell right

I don't know what you can do, but I gotta say, kids at your school are [expletive].

On my viper alarm system, I have a field disturbance sensor that gives off a warning siren when it detects people moving around my car. It has worked wonders in keeping unwanted guest away and I can turn it off and on with a switch

Invisibeam® Field Disturbance Sensor508DProtect your vehicle with an invisible sensing field which detects moving high-density objects (including people) near your car using Radio Frequency (RF) field disturbance technology.

Yeah I know, people at my school are total [expletives] And the freaking 5 security guards don't do anything other than sit in their office.... and look out the window once every hour.

mariosmax, that looks like a good idea thanks for the suggestion! Although something a little cheaper and easier to install would be nice hahahahah, I am not too experienced with installing complex alarms just yet.

well maybe one thing that you can do is put a security camera in your car pointed outward someone i knew did it and he caught a dude that kept breaking his headlights im not really sure how he installed it but its an idea and if they do it again you can find out who it is and make them pay for the repairs

OMG! I just found out that the 1996 Nissan Maxima is 5th in the most stolen vehicles in New York!

And thankyou for all your suggestions! I am leaning towards the Viper system, but its way out there in terms of price. And a security camera sounds like a good idea too, but I have no idea how to work it out.

I know what you mean about the price. I got lucky and got mine from another .org member for a pretty sweet deal.

+1 to mariosmax, thats the way to go.

When I was in college, I once slept in the car for a week and a half to see who was f-ing with my car. But that is commitment and I didn't have classes until noon, so i could afford the effort.

Camera in the car is another A+ idea. I've done that before too with satisfying results.

You might also want to consider getting some comprehensive insurance on your car to cover the gayness going on at your college.

-1 for most college kids.

Ask your friend if you can sit in his car and then wait and watch.

Then you beat the **** out of them with a bat

I know how you feel man,my old car I had before the Max got broken into, It was not running at the time thank god because if it was it would have been stolen the [expletive] turned on the ignition to find A car that starts but would not move because of A blown tranny LOL, so he decided to key up the whole passenger side of the car from front to back because he was mad he could not steal it. Plus he stole my CD's that dirty [expletive]. When you have something nice some people will hate on you always and try to ruin it for you,I hope you catch those bums and beat life out of them. Go with your gut feeling of who you think it is and see how they react when they see you passing by,sometime you can just tell.

lol, Try changing up your habits like get there earlier than usual, a little later than usual. park in different places. After parking just sit in your car for a minute or two and just observe. (I usually back into a parking spot). If your car keeps getting messed with at this point then someone is making this personal.

I hate it when that happens. Doesnt your school have cameras?? They should, most schools do, even pre-schools (which is very disturbing, teachers watch small children, lol).

What I do is, park all the way in the back, I get exersize, and nobody even comes near my car. But hey, what can they do to it? Key it, yea, somebody will really notice a new scratch. Nobody even touches my car, because they dont know me, lol.

Just get that thing that mariosmax mentioned in his/her post. Theres a mod at vqpower (I think thats what its called) that you can do, so when somebody touches your car, it goes off.

no one's gonna come near your car if you're sitting inside it.
Park it where u usually park it and keep and eye on it from a distance (w/ a camera) if you can.
lol u said and upside down v? sounds like an Acura rsx guy...most likely the one with a 10 ft long wing and a football size exhaust

Yeah, I forgot to mention that. Don't park by where you live.

It's a pain, but it saves your car. Where I went to college, as long as you had a parking pass, you could park anywhere. So after I caught the first guys screwing with my car, I started parking where the juniors and seniors lived. Never got touched after that.

I guess a safe option would be to buy a car cover for your ride. I don't know, just my opinion. Haha!

Oh no, because either way they don't do anything, I mean there have been people who came to them before, but they only beef up security for like a day and then go back to their usual habits... haha

by the way everyone, I am in High School

You are right! There actually is a Acura with a giant wing and overly loud exhaust! And I actually did decide to stay in my car one day, but I ended up falling asleep in the car haha, I am sure the whole car being fogged up gave it away

And guys thanks for the suggestions! I am frustrated just thinking about the possibility of my car being vandalized again, I mean each time our car gets keyed or something, we are the ones who need to spend the money and time to fix it, while some idiot laughs behind our backs.

And the shock sensor mod is perfect! Thankyou to the person who posted the link. The main thing i need is functionality and low-cost from a security system mod, and this is it. Thankyou!

When I bought my car 3 years ago I was worried like you guys are and I have been reading the forums since then and I ran into some threads where there are fools that are stealing, breaking, scratching and so on, but I have been cautious and watching out for my car when I am in my campus and when I am out of class for some breaks or sometimes I have late classes. I will watch my car. The day I really started being aware was when I was leaving school and I was going home I was smelling something funny,so I drove my car home and the car felt a little funny,I pulled my car on the driveway and I found a Cream cheesed bagel stuck in my struts and a coffee cup I was mad. I wanted to find out who It was so I can kick the living daylights out of this guy but I was not trying to get kicked off of the campus. I was cautious from hear on out and I was getting the campus security involved and they were on it since. This just recently happend my car was hit and some fool scratched the front bumper and I was very pissed and I wanted to toast the fool but I don't know who it was but I filed in for a hit and run. The lesson here Is from here on out I will install that security feature that mariosmax is posted.

No no no, parking in the remote spots for me is even worse. Because the remote places in my school have no student traffic and no patrols.... if you can even call them "patrols" and so you can light a bon fire there and no one is going to notice until the smoke fills the school.

So someone can have their way with my car all day long and not worry about anyone seeing at all.

best addvice i can offer, make lots of friends, with the people other people are afraid of. or just bulk up to the max(just dont do roids, they make your danger zone smaller ha), i played football in hs, not to many screwed with my car then, just because i knew everyone and many wondered if i would get them back for it.
viper alarms are the best out there, not to many can top it, i did see one last summer that automaticly locked the car after 2minutes with no keys in the ignition, an it would arm itself after you took the keeps out, it was on a grand prix i was looking at

This may sound a little far out but I always thought it would be cool to rig up some way to make your car "hot"... Like whenever you touch it you get the shock of your life! Its probably only in the movies though

A more practical way would be to park you car farther away or in a "remote" place if there is one. Out of sight out of mind.

Theres really no point to park in a remote place, because then you might have to walk even further then before. Instead of spending $100.'s on video camera's and such, and $100.'s in paint, just go to the office, tell them you like to file a complant with the school, that will wake the school up. A friend of mine had his car scratched from on the hood-his taillight, he just buffed it out, and told the school cops, and the office.. Last month it happened again, that time he told me that he was going to file a complant with the school.

The stupid thing is, we have video camera's at are school, which get everything on camera, I guess they got the people/person, because no more scratches.

That can be done, but would most likely be illegal.

Haha I never thought about going to the school for help. We have security cameras at our school too but it is pointed at the doorways to catch people leaving early.... if it happens again I'll file a complaint. Its just that, my school have been having a drug problem with the same people over and over at a specific place called "smokers gate" and people have been complaining to the school a lot because people take that way as a shortcut when walking home and usually there are lots of weird people just standing there, and the only thing the school did was put one security guard on a bike to ride back and fourth all along the trail after school and only after school. But kids still go there during school to do drugs and so..... my school is a total failure but at least I am graduating soon! YES!

That's not cool. It takes a seriously juvenile and self-centered mindset to just vandalize someone's personal property at random. (Karma, anyone?) I'm really sorry that happened.

My best advice would be to notify the security office (file a formal complaint on paper if they don't appear to take it seriously) and get a good car cover with locks.

They will just break the windows or dent the car if they are really committed.

Not to be a downer, but I'm just speaking from experience.
