To all who is thinking of giving up their autos for a 5 speed

Medicsonic and I represented the 4th Gen autos last night at the Pike and did a damn good job of it. No more will people argue that the autos are slow. Medic is modded and I am STOCK, yes STOCK!

People involved in the race were:

Toylet - 5 Speed/Modded 5th Gen
Medic - Auto/Modded 4th Gen
Me - Auto/Stock 4th Gen
DMBMaxima - 2002 6 speed
Sprint - 5 Speed/Modded 4th Gen
Yo_its_ok - Auto/Modded(I think) 5th Gen
Quansung - 5 Speed/Modded 5th Gen

Along for the ride was Clee and Synki.

There were more cars with us and I don't know what happened to them (I guess they couldn't keep up )

Beautiful runs guys.

Clee should be editing vids as we speak.

I can def say auto 4th gens were represented VERY VERY well. I must admit, i never thought the autos could hand w/ modded 5spds. Big ups to Greg & Dana last night for the auto perf. You def shocked all of us. Great job! I didnt even think an auto would hang with us during 130+mph runs. Too bad Steve almost lost it w/ the 2k2. Just wait till my monster is back and i pay you guys another visit. Me & Dennis has some early morning breakfast on teh way home. Some 5spds actually got walked by autos and i will leave them nameless. The point is, dont let auto get to your head, trust me, they have plenty of potential!

No doubt but mainly this is for the guys or gals that think autos can't hang or whip 5 speeds.

I may not run anymore until I get my car serviced. I need a mess of parts and last night my Rear O2 sensor went. The car still runs good but I would like to get everything top notch. We'll see.

Does someone mind posting results?

5 speeds fear automagics.

This was in CT and the funny thing is that Medic and Toylet decide to line up and blow past a cop at 80, sitting on the side of the road watching the traffic.

Deezo, Paramedic, you make me proud.

I thought medic had a VB upgrade and thats it? What kinda mods does he have ? Did you guys ever race from a dead stop ? Now, if you hung with the 5spds from there then THAT would be impressive! Us automagics still can't peel out like the 5spds can.

Good goin' fellas.

You might want to check my auto out then.

BTW-Greg has something things under there. Greg is fast, that is why he is part of sx7r. Now if only D did something about being stock and we can talk.

We didn't do any 0-130 runs but me and medic lined up a couple of times and were even until we got to about 80 or 90 then he started leaving me. I know that his tranny is going or else he probably would have me a while ago. But with that said my car was superlight last night and thats what helped me stay up with the crowd.

I missed this one and I have to answer it. All I have to say is you should have seen the burnout Yo_its_ok did. The whole front of the car was starting to go sideways. Autos can do it all. Please don't sleep because there were a lot of "told truths" last night.

Re: To all who is thinking of giving up their autos for a 5 speed

Thanks for the encouraging words Dana
my reasons for kind of wanting a 5-speed is that it can take a bigger beating then my automagic. (at least it seems so) It's also supposed to be faster and more fun to drive.
But I like my auto, just don't like other little things that bother me. I will be modding my car for handling, looks and comfort, speed doesn't bother me much since I don't race.

But a 5spd Can peel out completely stock. NO WAY an automagic could. Yo it's ok'' must have some tranny work done.

Also, what the heck does Gregory have under the hood?? I always thought he was stock 'cept for the VB.

Don't think it was ... it was a spur-of-the-moment type thing. And I was in the car, so ... footage from my end would have been pretty pointless. I didn't even know he was going to do it.

It's not about speed, it's about enthusiasm. It's more fun to clutch than it is to mash the accelerator, imho. I never bought the argument that it's a pain to have a manual near the city, therefore choose an auto. Sometimes there is no choice, like in the CL-S Type or 750il. But when you can choose, the standard tranny will always rule.

Nothing special at all. BTW, ran a GREAT time at E-Toen today. It's cleanly in 5 speed land.

No boost at all. All you have to do is give the car a little love. I'll say again, there is NO boost in my car.

Top end 5spd and autos are the same. Its when you drag race then auto steps aside.

Why do you guys keep saying dragging with auto are second to 5 speeds? Don has an auto and he is the fastest on this board.

I could smoke my stock tires in a stock setup auto. Its a matter of laying down the gas at the right time while picking up the brake. It also helps if the wheel is turned slightly and if the front tires are slightly above or below rears (on an incline)

Synki, what was the fastest that you have ever run, and what was the setup (WITHOUT NOS)?
