Anyone ever put a clutch in there Maxima,, 4th gen?
I know it should be in the 4thgen forum, but I though more people would look at this here, but if anyone has a link to instructions or any knowlege of this process please help me out, I really don't want to pay 350 for a clutch and 500 to get it put in.
Thanks

It's not an easy undertaking for a DIY mechanic if you don't have a lift. You have to pull the tranny, and this requires the car to be way up on jackstands, plus the transmission weighs 107 lbs. It's not a fun thing to have sitting on your chest. I payed $375 in labor for my clutch intstall....

has a good write-up on removing and installing the trans and clutch...
good luck

So far I've done 2 transmission drop jobs. First off a manual is ALOT easier then an automatic. Automatics are heavy as *****, and are physically larger so its more difficult to put back in. Secondly you dont need a lift or an engine hoist. I needed one floor jack and three jack stands to do the work.
However, if you've never done serious work on the car before then I would get somebody else to do it. It is very time consuming, tedious and you'll save alot of headache and foul language.
