have to notch the rear crossmember for them to fit. They still fit if you dont BUT the flex section will rub the crossmember and wear it out, QUICK. Also, for 2002+ (i believe. I didnt have to do this for the 4th gen though) the motor mount (rear) bracket has to be notched

i have the ebay headers on my car, works great, no leaks, sounds great, and i didnt have any fitment issues. now unless someone can show me where cattman gives me a big noticeable difference in hp over the ebay headers, then to me its not worth the money unless you just want to say "i have cattman headers". another example i have is, my friend has an ebay catback exaust, and i have stillen catback, the only difference is the sound, offcourse i have more power 'cause i have more mods, but both fit the same. i dont know how hard it is to put on outside the car since i did mine with the motor out the car, and the only reason i havent dynoed it to see my gains over not having headers is cuz i'm getting a blower put on, and i'm going to tune/dyno at the same time. until big name companies can come down to the $150 region, then i will stick to ebay headers.

Perfect........ exactly what im saying... best input so far... now whats so good is that now i listed a dyno on ebay headers and now ur gonna have one under severe pressure of boost.. so lets see every body keep talking about the welds and quality... there was no fitment issues with either 4th gens that was listed.......... i love my car just like everybody else, if not more, but i just simply cant afford to buy something for 2-4 times its price, but just like everybody who mods cars i'd like to have a good looking modded car also and when companies can uderstand that people are not millionaires then ill stick to my budget... dont think these big name companies dont pay attention to the smaller ones that takes a nick at there buyers and lost posibilities for a sale... its just really too expensive........

i dont live off Ebay or nothing because most ppl could vouch for my last car... i had the real Evo 2 exhaust (not saying there was a problem with ebay's... but im an exhaust freak and i loved greddy at the time) i had K-sport coilovers (which i still loved but just sold) and stillen lip kit....................................
Now take the lip kit for example, there is a clear difference because there are different materials that makes a lip kit... on with more durability with hitting object, so yes in that sense it is worth spending extra for, but when ppl say quality about something made of the same material is kinda dumb (T304 steel)

i was just reading a couple of threads on the cattman's and came across this thread....... most ppl talk about fitment issues... seems like someone paid a little too much for this concern..... so i now also post one about fitment issues with the more expensive headers but all i can hear is just the myth of ebay heades having fitment issues... who comes up with these myths.... congrats ur the man

I personally would not use the shorty headers unless like in your case the motor was out of the car. They are not worth the install but will save you weight because stock manifold are heavy. Just a small point though I highlighted in RED. Sound is a very big point to some people. Once again personally I would rather have a "better" sounding exhaust than have one that making more power and not enjoy the sound. If a track only car than who cares.

I was away because I thought this thread had died In reference to "quality" there are a range of things that may differ. Like welds, placement and the quality of the welds. Welds are not welds. The pipe bends also come into play. Granted mandrel bent is mandrel bent but the smoothness of the bend will play on the exhaust flow. for example a sharper bend will slow down exhaust flow. Another point is the overall position of the the exhaust to the underbody of the car must be taken into account. Lastly, the linked thread, there are lot that is not mentioned, like "I put a new exhust in, but didnt change the worn hangers." Sometimes things dont fit so not making excuses but, hey it happens.

I will say this find a setup that you love and stand by it. Sometimes you get what you pay for and sometime you beat the sterotype and sometimes **** is just OVERPRICED!

If I ever dig into the motor I'd buy the OBX from ebay with y - pipe combo just from reading the forums. (5.5) I'm sure cattman could sell more if they came down on price.

If money is not an issue get the Cattman headers, you wont have any regrets beside the fact that your car will be louder but faster, otherwise just buy the cheap one for 200$ and call it a day.
