well..I don't remember the name....it was something that you used to trap the oil in your car so it does not go back to the engine and got burned?....
I don't quite remember...it is a resevoir thing....
I saw it today...when installing intercoolers tubing and BOV
on my friend's eclipse...
does our car need one?...seems like a good protection if our engine decided to goof up or whatever....
anyone knows what I am talking about?....sorry if it is a bit confusing..but I don't remember the name...
and I think it is attached to the breather =]

its called a catch can.

It should go between the pcv and the intake manifold to catch oil vapors so they do not get into the intake tract. Oil is a detonant. A catch can will only make a difference if your sprayin or boosted.

Cool......I have some more questions

so what makes the oil different when you are spraying or boosting...I know we are pushing the engine hard at that point..so the oil will be stressed more?...is that why it vaporize...and might go into the intake and get burned with air + fuel and the engine go KABOOM?

this is interesting..is this standard equipment? does not seem so in my friend's...

Thank you for the info...
PS: I dunno much..but I am learning.. =]

The reason it makes a difference when boosted or sprayed is b.c its that much closer to detonation.

If its on motor and atmosphere is the only thing making any power or and youre not running sky high compression youre fine without one. NO factory car (with the exception of the lotus elan turbo se and the panoz gts) that i can think of has a catch can factory.

For what its worth... Running vaccuum in the crank case and positive pressure in the valve cover *makes* power. Just dont run too much crankcase vaccuum or the bottom end seizes. Sorry it took so long to respond, jackass was on... they had a poo joust.
