Seafoam as a all-purpose cleaner

At first I was always skeptical of sea-foam and how it works. Today I was cleaning my throttle body and from the looks of it the previous owner had NEVER even touched the insides of it, so it was almost pitch black.

I tried going old-school with a wet towel (but dry enough to not let any water drip into the throttle body) and scrubbed the hell out of it. It got better but there were still caked on carbon that a small wire brush couldn't even budge.

So I remembered about Seafoam's carbon cleaning abilities so I gave it a try, I got a new small rag and poured a little bit of seafoam on it and cleaned the TB again. What came out as clean on the wet rag came out pitch black for the rag with Seafoam. I got a little carried away and thought about pouring the can inside the TB, but common sense kicked in before I did anything dumb. But I still didn't know if it would do its job since, what I did was scrub with Seafoam not just pour into into a crankcase or whatever. So I took off my muffler tip from Schucks (too poor for a real muffler) that was black on the inside from me "forgetting" to clean it and I poured a little Seafoam on the inside and all the carbon and dirt came off, but it stayed inside the muffler tip as a sludge instead of dry carbon and when I poured a little more down the tip again, everything ran right off leaving a clean trail where the Seafoam dripped down.

So thanks to today I am now a Seafoam believer!

By the way I do not work for Seafoam, nor was I "cough" paid "cough" to say this

Sorry if this is a repeat "I believe in Seafoam" thread, all I could find were threads about people asking if Seafoam works as the instructions say on the can, such as pouring into Brake booster, crankcase, gas, ect. Didn't find anyone warning against or approving the use of Seafoam as a scrubbing agent

To clean the TB, you could have just gotta TB cleaner or maybe even Carb cleaner, but at least you figured out something new.

Yeah it actually works, but I was kind of scared it might erupt in flames or something so I cleaned it over with a wet rag, just in case

I think the spray TB cleaner is better since you can get into all the nitty-grittys, but if all you have is Seafoam give it a go!
