what is the purpose of the plate on.....

the bottom of the motor where it meets the tranny bell housing? when removed it lets you peer into the tranny case and see the flywheel. if this here just to keep dirt and crap out or what? mine has been missing for as long as i can remember and i finally now have time to try to research if its worth replacing or not, i found what i think the part number is on courtesy nissans sight but need to confirm before purchase.

It enables wedging a tool beetween the flywheel teeth to keep the crank immobilized when you need to service other parts, like removing the crank bolt.

From the schematic, what is the part number you are refering to ?
None of the parts look like what I am thinking about, the bell housing is not shown.
