1st & 2nd Gen Audible Warning Box
1st & 2nd Gen Audible Warning Box
The device that warns you that your lights are on, or that your low on gas for the earlier Maximas was featured on Jalopnik.com. Thought there had to be a few knowledgable folks on here that could add to the discussion...and maybe help the author figure out how to rig it to a newer car.
Heck...some of you with newer Maxima's might want to add this 'old skool' device to your newer car.

I've actually heard that some other models came with it... older stanza', some 280zx'? the switch for mine in the console is broke, but it's stuck ON somehow... I dont' mind, it actually was good for a few times I left my lights on, keys in the ignition, low fuel, door ajar going down the road, etc... don't know much about how it works, but yes, that would be a very cool mod for a newer max as well.....
'82 different than '81?
So....if you have an '82...what all does it say? Is it a female voice? Does it have it's own speaker, or does it cut out the radio to talk to you?
My '81 only says one thing "Please turn off the lights" and has no switch to turn it off. It also has it's own speaker in the box at the driver's shin.
Does anyone know what year they went from the analog record voice to a digital voice? My boss had an '87 Max and it was digital.

I think that was a 1st to 2nd gen thing...started with the digital when they made the 2nd gen, I think, and I know a guy with an 84 - 85? 50th AE 300zx that has the digital voice warning / EVERYTHING....
Thanks for including that page from the owner's manual. I wonder what other commands were added (or deleted?) for '83 and '84??
To ask again.....does the lady speak from the box near the driver's shin or does she speak through the radio?

no, and my stereo doesn't work, about to put an alpine head unit in this weekend (so I wouldn't know about that)... and no it doesn't have it's own speaker it plays through the drivers' door speaker
