wiring up resistors

how do I wire up resistors, to the postive end, or negative end of a LED?

Doesn't actually matter. Put 'em where it's most easiest.

Is the resistor a 560? How do you want the LED to behave? On when a component is on or on when a component fails?

I bought a package of 220-ohm resistors to wire up to my 3.6v and 5v LEDs, I want the LED to turn on when a component is switched on.

To have the LED come on when the component is switched on, and then go out if the fuse blows, wire the LED with the secondary side of the fuse. Connect the anode terminal to the fuse, and connect the cathode to ground, wiring the limiting resistor inline with the ground.

you've lost me, I don't understand...particularily

+secondary side
+anode and cathode of what? the resistor or LED?

could you draw something up?

Secondary side of the fuse = after the fuse (between the fuse and the component)

Anode (positive) of the LED to the fuse, and cathode (negative) of the LED to ground, with the resistor between the LED and the ground on the cathode. An LED is just a fancy diode.
