pic of custom bumper in progress

I tried this in the 4th gen forum and I didn't get much responce so i figured I'd try it here. I'm working on making a custom front bumper for my max and this is what i have so far. I'm looking for any ideas to make it look as good as possable. I know i'll go out and get it painted and someone will say "looks good but you should have done...." so I'm trying to get ideas while its still being worked on. thanks for any ideas.

I like the molding, but to be honest, I don't really like thw huge rectangular opening. Doesn't really go with the bumper. Maybe if it was smaller or not so "boxy", something like that. But I definetly like the molding of the lip. Is that the Sarona lip?

Looks okay so far......

it'll be easier to tell once its on the car and matched with some sideskirts, but for one it'll be different! I don't think the Maxima has a "big mouth" front end setup yet...that would work really nice for the guys that wanna show off their intercoolers. heres a 3rd gen who went "big mouth" too-->

I think small openings for fog lights might look good... even if you won't put fogs in them... it would just look nicer, cover then up with some mesh or something....

personally I like the big openin,as everyone has seen with
mu modified stock front. What i would do is keep the large
opening is round out the edges an with some mesh or a big inter
cooler it be PHAT,also maybe shaving the outer corner lights would
look pimp,i want to shave mine.

Its going to look like a mix between the buddy club and the BattleZ. I think it looks good, needs something where the fogs used to be, and maybe the front lip could stick out a bit more. It looks like your trying to go conservative with a agressive style...but just my opinion!

I'd do one of the following:

1) Round off all of the 90 degree corners in the large rectangular opening to give it a smoother look, much less rigid.

2) Taper the top corners in some, so it looks like this /____\

3) Taper the bottom corners in, so it looks like this \____/

Just some ideas to throw around. Peace.

well i was thinking about doing it like the black widow lexus kit till i was told about the other max with that kit, i still like it just without the opening on the side and keeping the corner lights. I don't know what the veilside kit looks like.

quick photoshop job.... hope you dont mind. (not the greatest, but i wasnt goin for cleanlyness) i took out the line across the top (just looks better to me) i rounded off the top of the opening and made the "lip" on the bottom the same width all the way across the bottom. just my $0.02

The mouth would look fine if the bumper face wasn't so flat..

time for my 2 cents.

instead of a drop down, add a slight curl to the front of the lip, so it actually acts like a front lip and add some functionality to it since we do have a FWD.

second, why not add some cooling vents for the front brakes, you can add some inlets near the bottom and channel it to toward the center of the car and then sweep outwards underneath toward the back of the rotor.

then for the front, you should add ..well. something .. just having the front with a rectangle would be too little, and besides. it wont look good unless u have an intercooler to fit that hole anyway...

overall it looks like the sonara kit chopped up, i suppose..

take a look at the Sentra SE-R front. i think you're getting an idea to emulate that perhaps?

I stole this bumper off of another nissan car... hehehe. bet you would never guess which one. i put some mesh in the opening, it has fogs, there are no holes for the marker lights but i didnt think of that till now... you get the idea though. i would put this on my car
