i notice some of those guys rarely post, or at least I don't see them posting. They may have not even visited since the whole sig bad thing occured, what is going to happen to them?

Here's an idea. I don't exactly know how the message board code works, but I'd assuming you could have the sig-length checker kick in, say, if sig_length >= 300 chars, sig-not-displayed.
In theory it doesn't sound too hard but I've never stepped out of Unix C so what do I know
