Is my clutch starting to go?

Never kept a car long enough to know the signs, but it feels like the engagement point is moving up and it doesn't seem to be grabbing like it used to. Could it just be the linkage is out of adjustment or something? Thanks

You will definitely know if it starts slipping... clutch slippage feels like you're revving, basically. You'll push in on the gas pedal and the RPMs will go up but the car won't go any faster.

If you're concerned about the symptoms it's experiencing now, take it to a shop or have a car-experienced friend drive it to check it. It's hard to say without driving.

I know what slipping is. I don't have that symptom. As I said, it feels like it's not grabbing like it used to and the engagement point is moving toward the top of the pedal and I'm not sure what that could be.

throw out bearing off alignment, or fork is bent/out of alignment.

Is that an easy fix or expensive?

Sorry, I phrased totally wrong. What I should have said is "you'll definitely know the clutch is going IF it starts slipping."

My presumption was, since you stated that you had no experience with clutches going on cars, that you were not familiar with slippage. But whatever...

Drove back from philly and it is definitely engaging alot later. If I redline it and shift, it grabs and doesn't feel like its slipping, but its not grabbing as fast as it used to.

I'm taking it to the shop tomorrow. Anything that is common on the 5.5 gens in regards to the clutch? A possible cylinder problem maybe? I guess at this point it would be better to post this over in the 5th gen section...

it is not easy, as you have to pull the tranny off the engine and get in to take clutch components out and replace the fork or throw out bearing. look for repair info online.
