Definatly trashed but it will be a good project for me to refinish them before winter hits. I figure I've got about a month or so, to get em lookin half decent, I'll update my refinishing with picts. I'm gonna pick them up tomorow and get started on fixing the nastyness. They WILL look good before they go on my max...lol

-Haha, good good, I never thought of that... and yeah, where I'm from I'm used to having snow tires at least half the year... so I would want my car to look good, even in the snow That's awesome you're gonna refinish them though... post pics! I've thought of painting my rims before, even though they're in perfect condition. Someone has a thread that's been posted on fairly recently who painted their 5.5 gen SE rims a gunmetal color. Looks really good actually...

Just an update picked em up today got the guy down to $200 due to the nasty rims. I started preping them for paint, it took me about 6 hours to get 2 of them ready to paint. It took a lot of work with a drill and wire bit and lots of 60-200 grit sand paper. I just need to give them a good rub down with some fine steel wool before primer and paint.

What paint are you using? IIRC the AE wheels (and the TE wheels from the 5.5) have this really nice color to them, they don't look like it's just plain silver paint like on the SE wheels from the same year. Are they painted, or just polished and clearcoated? Will you do the same finish?

So I finished refinishing the wheels, I used Duplicolor Wheel Paint/ Clear and self etching primer. Came out pretty good, I probably spent a good 10-12 hours grinding and sanding to get them preped for paint. Anyway here are the finished picts. I'll post some more with the newspaper off later on after the paint cures a bit.

Preped

Primed

Painted and Cleared

Oh come on now its not that hard your G35s should be in much better shape than my AEs were just a quick sand with 320 prime 2 coats paint 2 clear and you're good to go. Unless of course you want to fly me out to Seattle then I'd be more than happy to do yours for you...lol
